ssoceopa Posted January 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2017 We are flying into Ft. Lauderdale and sailing on the Escape out of Miami. Our flight arrives by 8 am. I just printed our edocs and for the transfers we purchased through NCL states their first shuttle does not leave FLL until 10:30 am. Is this true? I know they state you should not arrive at the port before 11 am (one hour before boarding will begin) but on the last 2 cruises my brother took on NCL he was on the ship at 11 am. craftygrandma Posted January 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2017 That's the same for most shuttle services, they normally transfer the people from the ship to the airport, then pick up those going to the ship.
jcann4444 Posted January 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2017 Have done it before. Use über or LYFT. Cheaper easier and more efficient than any shuttle option Sent from my iPhone using Forums

That is the worst way to get to the port. QLS and SAS will pick you up earlier and cost is only $15pp.
ssoceopa Posted January 13, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted January 13, 2017 We have a group of 14 going on the Escape and it is too late to cancel the transfers and go with another option. We can cancel but then we lose our money. I just didn't think we would have to sit at the airport for 2.5 hours to wait for their shuttle.

SNJCruisers Posted January 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2017 I just didn't think we would have to sit at the airport for 2.5 hours to wait for their shuttle. You need to do research on cruise critic before you make your reservation and not wait till the last minute and realize that you made a mistake. Cruise critic is a wealth of information from people that just want to pay it forward. Lesson learned. cruise pup Posted January 13, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2017 For future use, this is who we use. http://ridesas.com/ Can't speak highly enough about them. Much more affordable and dependable than the cruise line transfers.

We made the bad mistake of booking NCL transfers our first time flying into FLL and sailing out of Miami. I hate to say it, but yes, you will be cooling your heels for quite a long time. Ship boarding actually usually begins at around 11:30 am. With any luck, if the shuttle is running on time you could still be boarding the ship by 12:00, but as I recall, our shuttle time came and went, after we had already waited a long time after our early arrival. We have since used SAS, QLS, MJS for half the price and immediate pick up. Edited January 13, 2017 by punkincc
Rare www3traveler Posted January 13, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 13, 2017 My travel agent just talked with Norwegian. He was told that the first bus to leave the airport should be between 9:00 A.M. and 9:30. A.M.
punkincc Posted January 14, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) My travel agent just talked with Norwegian. He was told that the first bus to leave the airport should be between 9:00 A.M. and 9:30. A.M. Odd that the OP's edocs are telling him a 10:30 pick up for a pre 8:00 am flight arrival. I would tend to believe the edocs over a phone call to "someone" at NCL. Perhaps the OP should call and see if he is given different info. But, if what you say is true, then NCL has perhaps given the OP the completely wrong pick up info. Not a good thing. The transfer companies listed previously are completely professional and stay in touch with you by cell phone. Pick up within minutes. I would never do it any other way in FLL. Hope the time goes quickly and you are on the ship enjoying yourselves before you know it.
