RS182 Posted January 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2017 Just booked a February cruise out of New Orleans. We have never sailed out of New Orleans and will be driving in from Houston. What are recommendations for parking? Cruise terminal parking is $20/day which seems high from the surface. Is that recommended or are their alternatives? Thanks! Micahs Grandad Posted January 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2017 There is a closeby private garage whose name escapes me but did a great job. If you go to NA Homeports you will see their name pop up over and over.
wecamp Posted January 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2017 Everyone has an opinion. Mine is the $20 per day is well worth the convenience. I was just there last week. I drove up, paid, stopped to give luggage to porter, parked (covered parking!), walked right into terminal. So easy, no bus ride etc. when we returned. Walked right off ship straight to our car (self carry luggage) - took maybe 10 minutes. Drove right out to highway. So convenient, i wish Galveston was set up like that. RS182 Posted January 13, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted January 13, 2017 Thanks for the quick reply. I am so used to parking at Lighthouse in Galveston that I may not understand what I have been missing. :D
itolduso Posted January 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2017 So terminal parking did seem super convenient. It is not like Galveston where it is uncovered. Terminal parking is in a covered garage. We chose to park st Fulton garage. Did a 5 day cruise and Fulton has shuttle busses going constantly to and from tbe terminal. It was easy and the staff was very friendly. Fulton is also covered parking. Sent from my SM-G930P using Forums mobile app
vestamark Posted January 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2017 We also did Fulton. A bit less convenient than the terminal but saved over $30 on four day cruise. I will use Fulton again. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Rare Saint Greg Posted January 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2017 I've used Fulton four times and I'll use it next time. Book online and I think it's cheaper than if you just pull up the day of the cruise. They have a free shuttle to and from the port. A porter will meet you at the shuttle to get your luggage. http://www.neworleansparking.com .
PlanoDebbie Posted January 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2017 We've sailed out of New Orleans twice. LOVED their parking garage. Just be sure that you have all of your bags locked and tagged before heading there. As soon as you get in the garage, you'll be stopped by Port staff to check your boarding passes to be sure you are there on the correct day. They will take all of your checked luggage, then let you go park. Elevators will take you to the ground level, where you just go around the corner into the next building to check in. Easiest port ever.
maldenmusic Posted January 26, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 26, 2017 We have used Fulton Parking for years, last in December of 2016. No problems and the shuttle runs pretty much continuously.
ggaillie Posted February 1, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2017 I have an SUV and after looking at the Fulton site, I'm worried about the height. It's just a standard height vehicle nothing extra. Has anyone else had this concern? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
vestamark Posted February 1, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 1, 2017 We have a Mazda CX9 which is a an SUV as well (albeit not as tall as other makes/models). We parked on the top level and had no issues whatsoever.
Rare Saint Greg Posted February 1, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 1, 2017 I've taken a full size truck to the roof four times. It looks pretty tight going up but you'll fit.
Lady Patriot Posted February 4, 2017 #13 Share Posted February 4, 2017 Kitty cornered from the NCL terminal and across the tracks is uncovered parking that is secure 24/7. It's the same price as the parking garage.

You didn't say which February cruise you booked. If you booked anything before February 28th, you'll be dealing with Mardi Gras traffic and parades. We have a cruise booked February 26th and plan to get to the terminal and parked early... Just in case.
