barriead Posted January 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2017 Hi Guys, sailed on a northern lights cruise in 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed it, was wondering if anyone knows if Oriana still has those terrible old cabin TVs replaced during the refit, while I understand they are way down in most peoples importance....it would be nice to actually have a TV that would allow me to actually read and see whats on the screen without having to put my nose up to it.:) It does seem odd that while looking at pictures after refit (those that I found anyway) I have not found one that actually showed a cabin with a TV on show.:confused:////I wonder why.:) We are thinking of doing another Fjords cruise but this time in the summer. jimgri Posted January 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2017 I can't answer your question but coincidentally received an email from P&O today with news of the recent refit. Here is the link but I couldn't see any reference to TVs. Perhaps someone else will know more...
barriead Posted January 16, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted January 16, 2017 (edited) Thanks jimgri, I have now received the e mail as well....guessing they still have the "£10 at a boot sale" tvs on board, pretty poor show if they have not upgraded them....I know there are other ships with similar rubbish tvs...as well as many cheap hotels. As my eyesight is not the best it is a bugbear with me. Edited January 16, 2017 by barriead mis spell
Lesanne Posted February 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Was on Oriana over Xmas and in the inside cabins the TV's were the same so not been upgraded and yes they are hard to read
NOVICE WELSH CRUISERS Posted February 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2017 On the Oriana over Christmas. T.V screens awful. Extremely small and very difficult to read. Why an on-board account cannot be viewed after the refit is baffling... it can't be that difficult.

FluffyFiFi Posted February 17, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2017 Was on Oriana following her refit and the television was slow and disappointing. Have to say this was the worse cruise we have been on and it almost put us off P&O, the ship ran out of hot water on black tie night, the staff didn't seem to know what they should be doing and there were technical faults with the cruise passes. To be fair it was the first cruise following the refit and teething problems should have been expected but it was still very disappointing. barriead Posted February 17, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted February 17, 2017 Hopefully just teething probs.....as for the televisions they have to be the worst of any cruise line, if you have poor eyesight like me they are really difficult to make out...too small and dreadful picture...even worse than a budget hotel (travellodge) I stayed in near Heathrow recently. wanttoholiday Posted February 18, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 18, 2017 I cannot believe that P and O have spent all that money on a refurbishment and not upgraded the televisions. Come on P and O finish the job.

Port out Posted February 18, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Ummm I believe she will be sold on shortly, perhaps Thomson's, they like the older ships and after all Oriana is 22 years old which is 'getting on' for a cruise ship. Watch my words.
