carlp Posted January 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Thinking of getting an aft balcony on the Nieuw Amsterdam Deck 8 either cabin 8164 - 8166, - 8175 Any comments on these
Cruzin with BQ & CQ Posted January 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2017 If it's an option, you may want to consider deck seven which is what we choose. Deck eight can be noisy with the pool deck above, even early in the morning when the crew is shuffling the deck chairs and what not.
zookiebird Posted January 16, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2017 I agree with "Cruzin". We have done aft facing on deck 7 twice and loved it both times.
Globaliser Posted January 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Another vote here for deck 7, in preference to 8 or anything below 7.
bUU Posted January 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Good to know... We selected Deck 7 aft on NA, ourselves.
Overhead Fred Posted January 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Thinking of getting an aft balcony on the Nieuw Amsterdam Deck 8 either cabin 8164 - 8166, - 8175 Any comments on these We had 8163 recently on a Caribbean back-to-back and had no problems. There was a little chair scraping for a few minutes in the morning while staff was getting the pool area straightened up. It did not last long and it was generally when I was getting up and steeling myself for another strenuous day of cruising. We were not bothered by any other noise from the pool area during our two weeks. While on board, we booked essentially the same cabin for a back-to-back-to-back for next year. expectGREATthings Posted January 18, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2017 We were in 8164. The cabin is I feel smaller than a regular SB on the side of the ship. The balcony was more narrow than the one we had on the Noordam. There's plenty of noise in the morning when they're dragging the deck furniture around. Also the long balcony along the side is partially viewable from above. Stay away from deck 8 if possible. Good luck.
