going through locks in dark?

we will be going to the panama canal on the princess in Feb. I would like to do a shore excursion but also want to watch going through the locks. Do the ships ever go through in the dark so you would have to stay on to see the return lockage? Has anyone had the problem of having to muster for your excursion during the trip through the locks?

I assume you are doing a partial transit out of FLL. They never sail in the dark. You will be able to see the ship go through the locks. Once you have passed the Gatun Lock, then you will be able to go on your excursion.
