For Those Who Have Arranged Celebrations on the Conquest

We are planning a couple of celebrations on our 11/20 Conquest sailing...a baby shower and a birthday. Does anyone have experience with this? I think I remember reading a while ago that someone did this and Carnival was very accomodating in finding a public space that was not being used and even providing a server for the cake, at no charge. We don't want the whole open bar and snacks thing, we are just ordering cakes from Carnival and bringing our own decorations.

 

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? Should I go to the Purser's Information Desk, or see the Maitre 'd about it? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
