What to do with a 5yr old?

I haven't seen many posts on what excursions are good for younger kids.

We really want to do the Baths, but I'm wondering if it will be too difficult for our son. Thoughts? Has anyone gone with their younger children?

Jost Van Dyke seems like a runner up, but seems like a big party beach, which normally would be fine, but maybe not with our son.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Sorry if the "search results" link will not display in the other thread. From having read several posts from parents I think your 5 year old would enjoy the day at the Baths, but we don't have kids so can't help from personal experience. You may need to carry him/her or help get over a boulder in a couple spots, but it is a fun experience. There are reviews from parents on tripadvisor as well that are very positive.

Jost is indeed more a beach bar scene for singles and couples, at least in White Bay. We have seen folks bring their kids there, and when it's not super crowded with a party vibe it's not a bad place for kids. It's generally much busier on weekends, and in the afternoon as boats stop in after snorkel excursions and those from St Thomas arrive. Great Harbor is a bit less busy and is a short taxi away and is home to Foxy's, he often gets his acoustic out and tells stories.

This webcam can give you an idea how busy it is in front of the Soggy $ Bar which is probably the busiest spot - you can walk down the beach and find a less partying spot...

A nice day is taking a taxi to Trellis Bay and the short complimentary ferry to Marina Cay. Not sure if the 5 yr old would be bored, for a livelier beach Cane Garden Bay would be a good choice but the busiest option of course.

Another option is a day sail that goes to Norman Island with a snorkel stop at the Indians or the Norman Island caves and a stop at Cooper Island for lunch. Even if you don't snorkel it's a very nice day on a catamaran, and the captain cah entertain your child with tales of the local pirates! If interested, Aristocat, Kuralu, and Patouche are popular independent outfits.
