Ideas for Bilboa

Hello! My wife and I are going to be doing a TA in April and one of our stops is in Bilboa, Spain. We are wanting to get some information about the sites to see in the area before we actually arrive and before we decided whether to go on our own or take one of the ship excursions. If you have any good spots to eat or sites to see in the area we would love to hear from you, We do plan on getting to the Guggenheim Museum while we are there. Thanks for your help!:)

The most obvious thing to see is the Guggenheim, although IMHO the actual building is more interesting than the exhibits. There is also a very good Fine Arts museum.

 

The old part of the town has some very nice Art Deco architecture, notably the station, theatre and a couple of bars.

The surrounding area is nice too as it is 'Green Spain'. If you didn't want to stay in the city an excursion in the countryside wouldn't be wasted.
