NikkiFer Posted May 28, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2004 Jimmy came out last year with the Margaritaville collection. It has two CD's and you just can't go wrong with it! Actually, you can't go wrong with any of his CD's! My kids learned the lyrics to "Volcano" for their cruise last year! Nikki (O.A.T.C. & Proud of it!) SuiteCruising Posted May 28, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2004 He has a four CD set titled Boats, Beached, Bars and Ballads. Each CD in the set is themed to one of the title words and I take it every time I cruise, whether on a ship or in my Miata with the top down. clandt Posted May 28, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 28, 2004 I enjoy all the ones that everyone else mentioned (the one from last year is called Meet Me in Margaritaville and is an awesome collection)-- plus I love to bring Don't Stop the Carnival! My friend lived on Roatan in the Carribean and when I visted here they played this non-stop -- so it just reminds me of small island life!!!! jemingway Posted May 28, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 28, 2004 "Don't Stop the Carnival" is great. AmyBeth68 Posted May 28, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 28, 2004 I like his live album...Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays . It's a nice compilation of classics and newer songs. I listened to it for weeks straight after my cruise just to keep the mind-set going . Anyone going to see him in concert this Summer? I ebayed for tix since he sold out here in NJ VERY quickly! Spent an arm and a leg for those lawn seats...but it's WELL worth it! Stevie17 Posted May 29, 2004 #16 Share Posted May 29, 2004 I would suggest (as someone earlier did) that you buy Boat, Beaches, Bars and Ballads. It's a four-CD set, and it covers almost all of his "hits" as well as some of his lesser-known songs. However, I also have a soft spot in my heart for Living and Dying in 3/4 time...it was my very first Buffet CD...I was 10!!! jemingway Posted May 29, 2004 #19 Share Posted May 29, 2004 bob, I prefer the UB40 version of "Red Red Wine" and the CSN version of "Southern Cross". Also, JB does a half-Spanish version of Margaritaville that's great. JB also does a good job on "Sea Cruise". JV The 4 stages of cruising: planning, anticipation, experience and reflection. Cruisinforever Posted May 29, 2004 #22 Share Posted May 29, 2004 Ooh, Ooh.... I'm listening to JB right now as I read this board! I had wanted to buy a greatest hits set of JB's that contained "Come Monday", 'cause I LOVE that song, and I knew that the two CD set that was advertised last year contained it, but I didn't know if I'd be so gung-ho for the rest of the songs. I couldn't justify buying that for the one sure-fire song (penny pinching when it really doesn't help that much.... should pinch the coins when I buy clothes!) So, I went out to the local WalMart and found an 18 song set that contains a lot of the songs I really, really love, including Come Monday. My absolute favorites are that one, Banana Republic, and A Pirate Looks at Forty. I had no idea that Jimmy B. was so capable of such beautiful music! Hey, I was familiar with Margaritaville, and that was about it. I've read that quite a few of the old favorites on the 2 CD set that I *didn't* buy are alternate takes or live versions, not the "originals", so I think I'm glad I bought the one CD that I did. I may have loved the other set as well..... never know! bob&karen: I love your list! I only wish I'd had that compilation when I went on my May 1st cruise! Lots of variety and good tunes! jemingway Posted May 29, 2004 #25 Share Posted May 29, 2004 bob, the half-Spanish version of Margaritaville is on a 2 song cd that was attached to a bottle of Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville tequila and margarita mix. It has an instrumental called "Tequila" and then the other version of "Margaritaville". I got it about 6 months ago. Since then, I have seen it listed on ebay. I would be happy to burn you a copy if you would like. JV The 4 stages of cruising: planning, anticipation, experience and reflection.
