I HAVE BEEN OBSESSING ABOUT WHICH HOTEL TO STAY IN, BEFORE WE LEAVE ON THE CONQUEST I CALLED SEVERAL HOTELS AND THEY WERE EITHER TOO EXPENSIVE OR REQUIRED 2 NIGHT STAY INCLUDING HARBOR HOUSE ON PIER 21. I FINALLY DECIDED TO TRY PRICELINE AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. I MADE A BID OF 80.00 FOR A 2 1/2* HOTEL AFTER TRYING $90 FOR A 3 * WHICH WAS REFUSED ANYWAY I WAS REALLY NERVOUS BECAUSE IT SAYS ITS FINAL AFTER YOU PUSH THE CONTINUE BUTTON AND I WAS SCARED THAT WE WOULD END UP IN A LESS THAN DESIRABLE HOTEL, WAS I EVER SUPRISED WHEN HARBOR HOUSE ACCEPTED MY BID OF $80. I REALLY WANTED THE VIEW OF THE SHIP IN THE MORNING WHEN WE GET UP. AND I TOOK THE CHANCE AND GOT WHAT I WANTED. I HOPE WE REALLY GOT A GOOD DEAL. ANYWAY IT'S DONE WITH NOW AND THERE IS NO TURNING BACK .

ANYONE THINK WE DID OK OR HAVE I BEEN SUCKERED?

I'VE NEVER BEEN TO GALVESTON SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO EXPECT

Does HH have free parking for the length of the cruise? And to anyone who's stayed there recently...Is it a really nice place, or are you paying for the location? Stayed at the Galvez in September and it was good. Paid less than $100 for it and the shuttle was great. I was also considering Tremont, but still I don't know! Eventually I'll have to do something because there is only 31 days left before I get on the ship!

The Harbor House is very nice (IMHO). I've stayed there twice before and I will be staying there again 57 days from today (not that I'm counting down the days or anything....) :D

This is a picture of the room with two double beds.

And this is a picture of the view we had from the room of the Elation coming into dock the morning of embarkation

OPPS I SEE YOU ARE ON THE CONQUEST DIDN'T LOOK AT THE LIST OF PAST AND PRESENT CRUISES. THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST ON A SHIP THIS BIG. I PLAN ON HAVING A GREAT TIME, I DON'T THINK THAT WILL BE TO HARD TO DO.

IT WILL BE JUST MY HUBBY AND I AND 30 YEARS OF MARRIAGE BEHIND US. ALOT OF IT APART BECAUSE OF 26 YEARS IN THE ARMY FOR HIM. BUT ALL IS GOOD NOW .:D

Thanks for the pics! I have read where this is a nice place to stay and not too bad of a walk to the pier.

We stayed at Harbour House last December for $99. I booked in the summer.

It was a great location. We were able to see the Grand dock the next morning. I went outside in a coat and my pj's to was it and a Carnival boat come in. I even opened the windows in our room and watched the boats come in also

Evidently the hotel is a remodeled warehouse. We ate lunch at a restaurant that was next to it (Landry's???) and walk the Strand district the next morning. We had to get a roll-away for our 12 yr old son, and I can honestly say that the roll-away was better than some hotel beds.

We were able to roll our luggage to check-in the next morning. We were that close that we didn't need a cab.

Since we rented a car, I don't know about keeping your car there. I do know that you needed a code to get into the parking lot so it seemed fairly secure.

Bottom line, we would definately stay there again!

I'v read somewhere that this place is non-smoking. Does anyone know if this is true?

Galvez is all nonsmoking inside the building. I'm not sure about HH.

I read that HH charges for parking ($20 for the week maybe?) I didn't call them or anything, but maybe a heads-up if you aren't expecting it.

I had almost booked Tremont because the overall satisfaction with the hotel seemed higher than with Galvez, but they use Galvez's parking garage and you'd have to drive over to Galvez in the morning anyway so I cut the middle man out. Galvez's rooms were on the small side, but it was a pretty place. The pool area is fabulously beautiful!
