gordonzoo2 Posted February 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2017 The buffet coffee is not what we prefer and the coffee bar is a bit much to pay for as it would lead to a $300+ bill for the three of us on a 8 day cruise. On our last cruise we brought our own tea bagged coffee and the water was a bit too cool to brew the grind. Instant may be our next choice as it's a little better than the stuff they serve. We will be on the Vista soon and was wondering if there is somewhere we could find hotter water than the water on the buffet. Maybe a hidden microwave somewhere. Luke Saint Joe Posted February 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2017 I am only aware of a hot water spigot at the coffee machines at the beverage stations.
tea4ular Posted February 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2017 The hot water spigots at the coffee stations have always served the purpose for making tea for us (tea drinkers) - it's not boiling, however, you don't really steep tea in boiling water either (boiled, yes, but no longer boiling). And yes, we travel with our favorite tea.

Maybe the temperatures vary form one ship to the next.
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2017 room service can also bring a pot of hot water to your cabin.

I bring my own tea too - but only the ones that can steep at a lower temp, like green.
crusinpsychRN Posted February 2, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2017 No microwaves.
gordonzoo2 Posted February 2, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Yes mainly coffee with a tea in the evenings. Coffee is our main issue. I'm guessing if I have room service deliver hot water it will be the same. I wonder if the bar area in the Havana has a Microwave for specialty drinks. You will see that it says in all caps "WATER MUST BE BOILING." Edited February 2, 2017 by cruise pup
gordonzoo2 Posted February 6, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted February 6, 2017 We'll we tried a cold brew maker this weekend and found that is tasted just fine with a overnight soak. It will be our cold ice coffee remedy for the afternoon. It tasted really good. I'm also reading that the suites now have hot coffee makers. Does anyone know what format they are... K-Cup, filter type, or something else?
Micahs Grandad Posted February 6, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 6, 2017 You are limited unless you can find a crew member who will get you freshly boiled water

BonusMom Posted February 6, 2017 #13 Share Posted February 6, 2017 I'm newbie, but is there any reason that you couldn't bring a Keurig mini and your own k-cups??

They will confiscate it if they see it. They would consider it a possible fire hazard
