Cannes - Any good beach close to the port?

You have several options but the closest public beach is located very close to the tender pier. After you leave the tender area just walk across the parking lot...keeping the sea on your left. You will quickly come to a sandy public beach (Plage Midi). Another option is to walk into downtown (you walk along the marina until the end, and then turn right (keeping the water on your right) and you will soon be at the more famous beach that fronts the major hotels (this is just past the large Exposition Center). But this beach can be a bit expensive since most of the chair rentals are tied to the hotels...and they charge top dollar.

Is the fee for the chairs only or is it to access the beach? Wondering can you just walk along the seashore without paying or can you sit on the sand on your towel or is it seats only?

There is no fee to access the beach.
