Lipizzaner Stallions in Vienna

We are interested in seeing the Lipizzaner Stallions in Vienna as we consider a Danube river cruise for 2018. Viking has a video about the stallions on its website but I don't see a specific Lipizzaner excursion listed with any of their cruises or on several other river cruise lines. Does anyone know of such an excursion, or show, or is the opportunity to see the stallions limited to watching them practice on your own? Thanks.

We went Nov 2015 and were able to get tickets to 2 hour morning workout. We opted for the subway walking tour, then ditched the group near the stables. We did notify and tip the guide.

We did a Scenic River Cruise in September of 2015 and they had an excursion to see the Lipizzaner Stallions and oh what magnificent horses that they are.

we love visiting Vienna and we have included visits to see the beautiful horses. on the website you will see many different options for tours as well as a performance.

we booked on line on 1 occasion to see a full performance, is very worthwhile if you appreciate the skill/training involved with this unique and long tradition.

we have also viewed the horses on river cruise tours too but these are shorter albeit the stable tour on our last river cruise was very good.

enjoy Vienna there are so many options and 1 visit is seldom enough.

Before your see them, you might want to read the book, The Perfect Horse by Elizabeth Letts published in 2016. It tells the true story of how the horses and the school were saved during World War II. Americans played a role in saving them.
