Special Offers for Viking Explorer Society Members ???

Does Viking send prior cruisers special offers, last minute offers, etc? I sailed on the Star in the past and all I get is LOTS of the same 2 for 1 mail and email offers. Thanks :-)

Every now and then they do. But, right now, Viking is pretty good at selling out their cabins, so last minutes deals are few and far between. I've noticed that occasionally when they are opening up a new market that they will offer some deals (such as when they moved into the Caribbean market, they were offering free airfare).

We have learned on our past 2 river cruises that Viking typically markets their "last minute deals" in the European market. They heavily discount unsold cabins on short notice for river cruises (and occasionally for ocean cruises, but not as frequently as river cruises) in the UK primarily. My assumption as to why they do this in the UK and not the US is because they do not have to offer air arrangements and they do not have to open up discounts in the much larger US market that would encourage many to wait to book to see if bargains show up.

We've only sailed with Viking once before (a river cruise) and were give a $500 pp credit for our upcoming (ocean) cruise.
