bappo Posted November 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2005 Hello! Was wondering if any one has changed from their promenade cabin to a balcony cabin (if available) upon check in. Are going to the Mediterranean and have been thinking about switching cabins. Thanks. Barbara
breenw Posted November 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2005 We were on the EOS and had a promenade room. It was very noisy at night because the music that plays till early hours was loud and you could hear it from our window.
serene56 Posted November 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2005 What deck were you on? You are the first person I heard say this. Most people say that you cant hear nothing except when the parades were going on. I am wondering where your cabin was located. Barbara: If wanting a balcony cabin check into it now.. Dont take the chance they wont be available upon checkin.
breenw Posted November 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2005 I believe we were on deck 8 (I made sure there were passenger cabins above and below us.) The problem was that the speakers that pipe in the music are mounted on the walls of the promenade which places them below some of the cabin windows. Without knowing exactly where the speakers are, you may or may not get stuck with a room that has a speaker right below your window.
beaniebaby Posted November 18, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2005 I was wondering wether to change from a promenade cabin also. I have booked cabin 8609 on MOS and am really worried that it will be noisy? From what breenw says it is possible that there could possibly be a speaker possitioned outside! Is there anyone out there that has stayed in that particular cabin?
Leslie K Posted November 25, 2005 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2005 I haven't stayed in that specific cabin. We loved our promenade cabin on EOS, except that we were the highest level of promenade and the ceiling lights were right outside our window. some nites they didn't lower the lights till 2 AM and even the thicker curtain couldn't block it all out... some may like it as it's like having a night light (bright) in the room but to me it was annoying. I didn't find the noise a problem but our room was not directly over one of the bars/eateries and the stores didn't stay open as late.
Trevoli Posted December 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2005 A balcony cabin is a must for a Med cruise, particularly if you're going to Venice. T
cruisinbuddy Posted January 15, 2006 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2006 If you still can, do it. People walking by & you have to keep your curtains closed.
