Newbie - Formal Nights?

Cruising for the first time. Trying to figure out what to pack. Going on a 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise on Oasis departing Feb 26, 2017.

 

Are the formal nights for dinner? And what would classify as formal wear?

Formal night is optional - My husband and I usually don't partake, we are more on the strictly casual side, but my teenage sons love it!!!!! You will see anything from a Sundress with heels, to Tuxedos and Gowns. Just do you and enjoy. [emoji6]
