We are doing this cruise on 19th March and have been advised to take euros for the French islands. I believe they do take $ but the exchange is poor so euros are better. We had some euros left from last year so will be taking those.

We were there last Feb. On the whole better to take dollars although a few islands do take euros. Wat h that you dont get local currency in your change

Martinique and Guadeloupe have the Euro as their currency, although it does seem strange in the Caribbean, and, as has been posted, will happily take US dollars but give you a poor exchange rate. US dollars elsewhere.
