Has Anyone Encounter Sand Fleas at Harvest Caye?

Looking forward to being at Harvest Caye in less than 4 weeks and been trying to catch everyone's comments regarding the Island but one thing I have not seen mentioned is if anyone has encountered San Fleas or any other bugs that bite? :eek:

I was there in November and sat on the beach all day in a lounge chair. I didn't have any bites.

We were there in January and got off first thing in the morning to walk around. The sand flies were horrible! Maybe they got better later in the day, we went back to the ship.

the only place we have encoutered sand fleas was in Roaton. Hubby get bit by everything, so he was a mess. It makes sense they could well be a problem on the private island. Word of warning, be safe, take spray.

Thanks for the responses, I wonder if they Spray before guests get there which could be why the early morning was bad. A few years ago we did an NCL excursion to Maya Cay in Roatan. When we got there, there were workers walking the beach spraying the beach sand and grounds and we assumed for the Sand Fleas. When we first laid down on the lounge chairs I remember a few but after that there were not any Hoping that they spray here as well, I will still go get bug spray. :)

There first week in February not a flea to be found.

Depending upon the time of year and weather conditions you can run into them pretty much anywhere in the Caribbean.
