KillaFee Posted November 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2005 So I just got a call from my Boyfriend. He sounded really excited and wanted to let me know that he was a diamond member. He's only been on 3 cruises...what is going on? I'm not jealous that he's a diamond member, because I'm one too, but I had to earn my diamond status, darnit!! Does this just randomly happen....RCI sends out random "skip from Gold to Diamond" letters? Does this mean I can't go to the special Diamond cocktail parties alone anymore (jus' kiddin)?? Ever happen to anyone else? Thanks! Laura
In the Pink Posted November 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2005 It depends on the length of the cruises he's been on. The longer cruises qualify as 2 (I'm not sure whether it qualifies at 10, 11, or 12 days).
bigscrb15 Posted November 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2005 and I think some suites are eligible for 2 credits.
flagger Posted November 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2005 Easy. Sail in a JS or higher or as the PP mentioned, you could do it in 3 cruises. I think the most credit you could earn is 3 per cruise so in theory you could be diamond after two cruises.
Merion_Mom Posted November 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2005 No, actually, there is no legitimate way he could be diamond after only three cruises. The maximum you can get per cruise is three: one regardless, one if the cruise is longer than 11 days, one if in a JS or above. So, 3 x 3 = 9, and you need 10 credits for Diamond. (platinum is 5th - 9th credit level) C&A fairy?

I think the most credit you could earn is 3 per cruise so in theory you could be diamond after two cruises. It takes 10 cruise credits, not five to qualify for diamond status, so the minimum required would be 4 (at 3 credits per cruise)not 3 cruises. It is also possible that he lives at the same address with his parents who may have made diamond status and if he had ever cruised with them he would receive their membership status. Brittgrrl Posted November 15, 2005 #7 Share Posted November 15, 2005 Do tell when you find out! We, too, had to earn our diamond status the "hard" way:p If there is an alternative way to speed my way up to "diamond plus" I wanna know!:D
Merion_Mom Posted November 15, 2005 #8 Share Posted November 15, 2005 Sure: back to back to back to back 3/4 day cruises in a JS. :D I'm getting FOUR (and hitting diamond status) for the Sovereign cruise in my signature line. :D
CruisefreakOH Posted November 15, 2005 #9 Share Posted November 15, 2005 I don't want to get a long discussion started, but my understanding (from my TA and someone at Royal Caribbean), is that the maximum cruise credits is TWO per cruise. If you are on a 12-night in a suite, you only get two, not three or four. You can get two credits for a 12-night (we just did last week on Jewel), but if we had been in a suite, tough cookies - no more credits. Those that are posting about three or four credits per cruise - where are you getting this information?
PhoenixCruiser Posted November 15, 2005 #10 Share Posted November 15, 2005 We will receive 3 credits for our next cruise - 2 for being in a JS and 1 more since it's 12 nights :D And like Merion Mom, we recieved 2 for booking a JS on The Monarch 4 night cruise. We did receive a "free" credit last year when we were on The Navigator. We received 3, it should have been just 2 for being in a JS. We think it was because of our very large sea pass bill :p ###
PhoenixCruiser Posted November 15, 2005 #11 Share Posted November 15, 2005 Those that are posting about three or four credits per cruise - where are you getting this information? Crown and Anchor confirmed this when we requested our platinum discount for our cruise next year. I suggest you call C&A to get the real answer. ###
Epaul3 Posted November 15, 2005 #12 Share Posted November 15, 2005 Do you have to call the Crown and Anchor desk to find out how many cruises are posted to your membership number or is there some other way to find out? Thanks.

Can you leave your stuff in the cabin? Seems like it would be a pain, unless there is some real advantage, like 4 cruise points in 1 week :) But just curious about that. cruisingnewyorkers Posted November 15, 2005 #16 Share Posted November 15, 2005 KillaFee Does your boyfriend live with you? My future daughter-in-law was a diamond with only 1 cruise, she got upgraded because she lives with my son who was a diamond. And he got to be diamond because he lived with me when I became a diamond. When we had a family cruise in May, fdil was in concierge room when someone asked her about all the cruises she has been on since she was a diamond, she told them that it was my son that was on all the cruises. So it is possible to become a diamond with out earning it.
Raysfun Posted November 15, 2005 #17 Share Posted November 15, 2005 My wife is Diamond and just signed her son (23yrs old) up for C&A after one cruise. RCCL said he is a Diamond now because he is at the same address as his mother. I don't think that is right.
Alexis Posted November 15, 2005 #18 Share Posted November 15, 2005 Just sailing is correct. The max you can earn per cruise is 3 credits. Receive an extra cruise credit when you purchase and sail in a suite (categories RS, OS, FS, GS, JS) for sailings beginning on or after January 1, 2004 Receive two cruise credits for a 12-night or longer cruise/cruisetour on or after January 1, 2003 Award-winning Crown & Anchor magazine Member section on Web site Members contest Member Cruises Crown & Anchor Society desk for membership inquiries (800-526-9723) GOLD: After 1st Completed Cruise PLATINUM: After 5th Completed Cruise Credit DIAMOND: After 10th Completed Cruise Credit DIAMOND PLUS: After 24th Completed Cruise Credit Cruz1234, On a back to back cruise you leave your stuff in the cabin if you have it for both weeks. After the ship is cleared of other passengers, you are escorted off the ship with an officer and brought back on within minutes. It depends which port you are in as to how it may be done. parr0thead Posted November 15, 2005 #19 Share Posted November 15, 2005 I am a diamond plus C & A member and earned it the hard way also. My son earned his way to diamond, but was upgraded to diamond plus because he lives at the same address as me. They did tell me that when he moves out to a different address he will be demoted back to diamond.
catmommy Posted November 15, 2005 #20 Share Posted November 15, 2005 Does this mean DH and I get two credits for our 13 night Western on the Voyager? I only thought we got one. So it would be possible to get to Platinmun with only 3 cruises? Two of 10 nights or longer and one of 7 nights or a shortie in a JS? Cool. CruisinDawn Posted November 15, 2005 #22 Share Posted November 15, 2005 Somehow I was given an extra credit. Was surprised when I called to confirm that I had 5 she told me I had 6. I wasn't going to argue or question it :D I wondered if someone just wasn't looking when I sent in my request to join Crown & Anchor before our Voyager cruise. Was just to excited and couldn't wait. (Note the first Majesty cruise does not count as 2 as that was prior to the rule for JS) After our Freedom cruise we will have 9, one short of Diamond :( BonVoyage Dawna

Ericknow32 Posted November 16, 2005 #25 Share Posted November 16, 2005 I earned my way up to Diamond one cruise at a time, no double points, no triple points, and I didn't leach off of someone else's membership level. RCI is going to have to start watering down the benefits if they keep on handing out points like candy. I don't want that.
