Will be taking a cruise that stops in both Shanghai and Beijing. Was thinking of an overland tour leaving the ship in Shanghai, touring the city and then flying to Beijing, touring the city before we rejoing the ship. Any recommendations for a private tour company?

Thanks

Have you considered catching the high speed train. By the time you factor in the times you will spend in the airport and getting to and from it is not that much quicker to fly. The train trip lets you see a bit of the countryside on the way. They even have business seats if you wish.

Sensational way to travel.

Have not been on Shanghai to Beijing train but when our flight was cancelled and we had to meet our Yangtze cruise ship we took train from Shanghai to Yichang. Fast trains, over 200 kms an hour at times, very comfortable even for a 7 hour trip. Saw lots of countryside, towns we would never have seen if we flew.

At lunch time, all the locals, there were very few western people on board, got out their noodles, filled bowls from hot water supplied and enjoyed lunch.

We bought something from the food cart that came around, looked ok but attendant didn't speak English, so not sure what we ate. It was ok. Smiling and sign language was the best form of communication.
