Anthem of the Seas - Live Review 3/5/17-3/12/17

Do they serve the pumpkin seed rolls in the main dinning room? They are delish, thanks in advance.

I didn't notice any until day 3 or so, but then we got them pretty much every night. I'm sure your server can get you some if they don't show up in the basket right away. And you are right, they were awesome!! :-)

Actually it's probably because you need to be up and off the ship early in the morning, gives you an extra hours sleep on the last night.

This is true in theory, but in practice I still lost an hour of sleep the last night!

My "smart phone" decided I still needed my time moved up an hour - even though I purposely went in and turned of the "update automatically" in the settings of my iPhone. So, unbeknownst to us we got up at 5:15 and were ready to head to windjammer at 5:45 - an hour earlier than planned! I only realized it when I went to put on my watch right before we walked out the door.

This same thing happened to the five other staterooms in our group, too!

I saw glasses shaped like that, but they were a little different design. They were blue, but had multi-colored speckles around the bottom and on the rim of the glass. They had some in one of the bars - that I assume you could purchase with a specialty drink - and then they were also selling them from a a table in front of Michael's Pub on Friday or Saturday.

Thank you for your response. I'll keep a lookout for them.

Aileen

I was just onboard last week and it wasn't the case for us - quite the opposite actually. I normally drink Jim Beam - which they didn't have - but they did have Makers Mark and Bulleit bourbon, both of which are more expensive than Beam. I ordered a bunch of Patron margaritas too and they didn't bat an eye.

I suppose it's possible that if you don't specify a brand then you could get the cheaper stuff - but I saw plenty of 'good' liquor flowing freely while I was onboard!

We noticed on our sailing that if no specification is given, the bartenders will generally pour out of whatever bottle has hardly been touched during the sailing, sometimes leading to better booze and sometimes leading to more of the well variety. Just seemed to depend on what the customers at each bar had been drinking, and what they felt they needed to get rid of as I'm sure the ordering process plays a role.

So much for my "live" review! I want to apologize to each and every one of you that took the time to read my posts and ask questions only for me not to return during the sailing. Thank you to everyone who took the initiative to answer the questions that were answered!!

I truly did intend to update multiples times daily like I did in November and answer questions as I went along but things go away from me. I got busy wrangling the family and then started feeling a little under the weather (felt like allergies) so I did not have any extra energy to keep this updated. It has been a nutty few days since returning home. We had a 10hr drive Sunday and then I have been trying to catch up at work which is not fun after being gone for nine days.

Now that I am finally getting caught up, I will post more pics and answer what I can. I did not take a ton of photos, but we did eat at the MDR every night so I have the menus and food porn if you are into that. I also took some different pics around the ship. My sister did as well so I will hijack some of her photos to share as well.

Again, I am really sorry. I promise I will do a better job next time!!

One more random kid-specific question... What did you see kids wearing at night? Nice shorts and polos? Dresses/skirts? Athletic shorts and t-shirts? Trying to get everything packed and ready!

Thanks in advance!

Stephanie

They also kept coming around trying to sell a wine tasting package and the galley tour. Several in my party bought the galley tour for $35/pp, which included brunch (with various dishes from each of the specialty restaurants) and all you can drink champagne.

That is really annoying! It is bad enough to have people come around to try and sell things at the buffet, but during a sit down meal, it somehow seems worse. Is this common on all of the RCI ships now?

Canadian Disney Mom, absolutely no need to apologize. I hope that you were still able to enjoy your cruise while taking care of the family and being under the weather.

I love dining room menus and food porn and will be happy for anything at all that you can share.

In addition to the Cruise Compass request I made earlier, was the puzzle break room available on the 5 day cruise? It isn't showing up on our My Cruise Planner, even as something that must be signed up for on the ship.

No need to apologize. I'm glad you took time for yourself and enjoyed your vacation. We can all wait to hear your review of the Anthem.

  • 2 weeks later...

Some photos from our stateroom - D3-9164 Superior Ocean View Strm w/Balcony. It turns our our balcony was actually pretty big. We were the cabin just as the hump was starting so it had an angle to it that gave it some extra space. The room was super quiet and just around the corner form the elevator.
