Yes! :o Bring your own repellent.

If you go to the ruins ON Cozumel, yes. They can be bad!! Depends on the weather of course, but be prepared! If you are talking about Tulum, Coba or Chichen on the mainland, then not as much.

Take repellent with you - if you forget, the folks at the entrance will spray you down.

There are tons of mosquitos at the ruins in Cozumel and we noticed some at Coba. We had no issues at Tulum or Chichen Itza. There are confirmed cases of Zika in Cozumel according to the CDC website, but you should check the latest updates before you go.

The day we went to the ruins was very windy, so we had no problems. We took repellent with us as we had read they were a problem, but we didn't need it on our visit.

The only place we've encountered mosquitos on Coz was at the ruins and they were terrible. Be prepared.
