phillyburbslady Posted November 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2005 Does anyone know of a resort that will accept children? Apparently, Breezes does not and you need to rent a room at Atlantis to use their facilities. Thanks for any help. Karen
phillyburbslady Posted December 8, 2005 Author #2 Share Posted December 8, 2005 Come on...hasn't anyone spent a day by the pool in one of the resorts?
CaribbeanBound Posted December 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2005 We have, but we went to couples only "Sandals". I had always thought Breezes was for families. Are you SURE they no longer cater to families?
Rare Kteacher Posted December 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2005 Breezes does not allow children under the age of 14. I think during spring break season the age restriction changes to 16, but I'm not positive.
burners Posted December 13, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 13, 2005 The British colonial hilton sells day passes for $15 per person.Looks like a very nice hotel ony 2 blocks from the cruise ships. You can use their private beach and heated pool and outdoor restaurant. scubagirrl Posted December 13, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2005 You can use the public beach on Paradise Island, there's a walkway next to the RIU. (take a cab, or ferry) You can rent a chaise or umbrella, but there are no other amenities. OR You can take a cab or Jitney to Cable Beach and enter thru the Wyndham or Nassau Beach Hotel. If you are discreet and blend in with the guest, they will look the other way. Both properties have restrooms/ bar and grill etc. Wyndham has a nice pool with a slide. phillyburbslady Posted December 13, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted December 13, 2005 Thanks...I'm not sure how discreet I can be with 7 people ;) I'm travelling with my children and grandchildren. Perhaps the Hilton is the way to go.
scubagirrl Posted December 13, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 13, 2005 Thanks...I'm not sure how discreet I can be with 7 people ;) I'm travelling with my children and grandchildren. Perhaps the Hilton is the way to go. The Hilton is very quiet and serene, not many kids. It's a business hotel, lots of businessmen near the pool, especially at lunch time. Most guests are trying to relax or read. It's a great place to chill out. You may get a few critical remarks if your kids are active. Pool is small... so no splashing and horseplay. You may want to reconsider a more "family" environment. Wyndham would still be my choice. It's a large property, with sister properties and beaches extending on both sides. weloverunning Posted December 14, 2005 #10 Share Posted December 14, 2005 Hi Philly: I don't know if its still possible but....we were on a cruise last year with Nassau as a port. Beforehand, we booked a room in the Best Western (across the street from Atlantis). When you stay there you have privileges to Atlantis including aquarium, pools, beach, slides, etc. We checked in, they gave us wrist bands, we looked at the room, left a dry change of clothes there, and headed over to Atlantis. Last year the room rate at Best Western was $169-$179. Seems like a lot of money for a room we didn't use but if you figure there are four people going on an excursion for the day it will cost you well over that price. We had an absolutely wonderful day at Atlantis for $180 or so.
scubagirrl Posted December 14, 2005 #11 Share Posted December 14, 2005 You can still rent a room at the Comfort Suite and get access to the Atlantis. Usually under $200. Trick is.. they accept only 4 to a room. With 7 people, they'd need 2 rooms. Kinda pricey for use of the pools and slides etc. You can still view the Digs/aquariums for $29 adults / $21 kids, but with no beach/slide or pool priveleges. cruzn buckeye Posted December 16, 2005 #12 Share Posted December 16, 2005 You always seem so knowledgeable...wonder if you could help me. I am looking into possibly going to Breezes for our time in Nassau....I think I read that it is $60pp...that's all inclusive right? Also, do you pay before you get there or can you go the day of the cruise and buy the day pass for the day that you are there? Thanks!

The $60 includes food/booze/pool/beach and non-motorized water sports. The day pass SHOULD be available same day from the front desk, but I would make sure by calling ahead. On Overbooked days they may not allow additional people.
tm3750 Posted December 18, 2005 #14 Share Posted December 18, 2005 breezes is a great deal at $60.00 get there early and stay as long as possible:cool:   :D If you are looking for call or premium drinks you have to ask, they have them but when i was there you had to ask for a spedific brand and they would get it for you. might have changed now this was a few years ago, but still a great deal

BEVGOO Posted January 8, 2006 #16 Share Posted January 8, 2006 you seem to know your way around Nassau. We have not been there for several years and are going this fall for one day, as part of the cruise. We wanted to know if there were any inclusives in nassau that have topless beach areas or any catamaran parties that don't allow children. We don't dislike kids, but our group would rather not put up with them this day. thanks so much
scubagirrl Posted January 8, 2006 #17 Share Posted January 8, 2006 ATLANTIS has $29 day passes ($21 for kids) The $29 pass is only good for the DIGS/Aquariums. It does not allow you access to the pools/slides beach etc. You must be a guest of Atlantis/Harbourside/Ocean Club or Comfort Suites to use these facilities. That's why you see so many posts about renting a room for the day. You can use the casino and shop in the high end shops for free, as well as stroll thru the Marina Village and dine. Breezes is an all-inclusisve that caters to 14 and up, so you won't have little ones around, but the atmosphere may not be what you are looking for. It's very busy... always something going on... not very relaxing for my taste. Day passes run around $60pp. Sandals is couples only. I believe you can get a special deal for about $60 if you take their tour. Beside these two... the bahamas is a very family oriented place. Not easy to get away from the little ones. I don't know of any tours that don't allow children. Barefoot Cruises is the one that's more likely, but you'd have to check with them directly. http://www.bahamasvacationguide.com/bsc.html

Karen Actually you can purchase Day passes at the Atlantis resort AND on their website. Also most cruises offer Atlantis passes as one of their excursions. ** BAHAMAS BOUND IN 88 DAYS **
carly chloe Posted February 18, 2012 #20 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Which would you recommend for two 40+, one 22, two 18 and one 2 year old? The Sheraton or Wyndham? Sheraton is $25 for beach day- $40 for lunch and beach at Wyndham. We want to go to the Fish Fry after our day so the lunch is no big deal but wondering if they offer free drinks all day if that would be worth it? Which one (and resort) is better? The sheraton would probably have more to offer. There are no free drinks with the wyndham lunch. Just coffee, tea or juice while at the indoor buffet. Neither have free drinks. But both have nice outdoor bars/grill.

oilsand Posted May 12, 2012 #23 Share Posted May 12, 2012 Arawak Cay or the "Fish Fry" is within walking distance of the terminal. When you get out of the terminal, turn right and walk towards Senor Frogs, then left when the road dead ends, and then along W Bay St. along the ocean and past Junkanoo Beach. ( approx 30 easy walk) There are several restaurants there. the # 10 jitney goes right by also __________________
mom07 Posted May 14, 2012 #24 Share Posted May 14, 2012 So you can walk to Junkanoo beach from the port? Then do you pay them directly? If it is not far from Senor Frogs that would give us a chance to shop in the straw market as well enjoy the beach making all of our girls happy! cruisegirl1 Posted May 14, 2012 #25 Share Posted May 14, 2012 Hey – take a look at the posting dates. Most all of the first page is from 2005 - 2006! You can only imagine the changes since then. Searching the forum is a good idea – but please don’t try to resurrect a 6 year old thread. The old advise can really send someone drown the wrong path. ( my favorite post – is the Atlantis day pass for $29! ) Likely true at the time, but certainly not now. enjoy beautiful Nassau M
