snownow Posted March 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2017 So we are on a western cruise this summer and the Wife and kids want to head to a Mayan ruin. Any thoughts on what port to head out from? Any imput on the locations below would be great. We did visit Tulum.... 25 years ago (pre kids) Costa Maya and go see Kohunlich and Dzibanche? Chacchoben Mayan Ruins? or Tulum from Cozumel? Rare crewsweeper Posted March 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2017 Both are a distance away so there is travel time. Tulum is in a beautiful setting near the ocean but takes a ferry ride and bus trip to reach from Coz. Makes for a long day and you must stay on the pathways and the site can get crowded. If you reach out to Native Choice in Costa Maya, they have some very interesting packages that will help your kids to have an enjoyable and educational time (but don't market it that way to them:D ). Chacchobben is larger than Tulum, less crowded and you can climb temples.
