I got those waiting on a price drop blues...

Recommended Posts

Sailing with those empty cabins can't save them any money. ...but if you're a week out from the departure date and still have a glut of empty rooms, it's insane to not do a price drop.

You are putting too much of an emphasis on the "empty cabin/fill every cabin" scenario as if it spells doom for the cruise line and a Cheap Cruise Bonanza for the last minute booker.

There is much bigger picture.

Every sailing has a dollar revenue goal it must reach. And if a sailing has achieved that goal without every cabin sold then that's it. You've noted 40+ open cabins. NCL is also very aware of this and because the prices have not plummeted they are obviously fine with it.

If the intention of every cruise line were just to get "every bed filled" then the cruise lines would just price every sailing at amazingly low, too good to resist prices and fill every ship in a few months rather than 2 years.
