Blue and Green Posted April 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2017 We will be in Central London a few days pre-cruise. Not sure if this is doable, but thinking about spending some time in Windsor the day before the cruise. We travel with a wheelchair, spouse can walk short distances, but we will have our luggage with us and I do not like juggling all this on public transportation so we usually use private transfer car services. I know International Friends offers a post cruise tour, but wondering if there is any thing similar or a private car touring company that would include a stop in Windsor for a tour, maybe lunch, before taking us to our hotel in Southampton? Or would we be better off leaving luggage at London hotel, taking a car to Windsor, then back to London to pick up luggage and take another car to Southampton? Not opposed to waiting and taking the International Friends tour post-cruise, but wondered if it allows much time in Windsor? We tend to move slowly, and would like time to explore a bit. Bob++ Posted April 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2017 To be honest, I don't think plan B is really doable. The castle doesn't open until 9:30 and you would need about three hours to get round. There simply wouldn't be enough time to get back to your hotel to pick up the luggage. If you take your luggage, you will have to negotiate with the hire company to wait while you are touring. It might be worth approaching a Windsor based company like boookings@royalwindsortaxis.co.uk (picked at random) to see what they would quote. Windsor to Southampton takes about 1½ hours by road. Rare debsjc Posted April 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2017 There is no left luggage facility at Windsor station either, or I believe anywhere in town. Also i'm not sure if you already know, but Windsor is quite hilly, so not the easiest of places to explore with a wheelchair. It might be better to take a tour, or take the train there, whilst you are in London for several days .... rather than visiting on you way to Southampton.
