Messina to Taormina

What is the best way to get from Messina to Taormina. Taxi, bus, train?

We took a train to the station which is basically at the bottom of the hill where Taormina is, so to speak. We were able to call a taxi from the train station and it took us up. Not expensive. But a hair raising ride. Worth it though, it was my favourite stop. Priceless views and old world charm!

We took a bus from Catania Airport to Taormina. As I recall the bus actually went to Messina. Not certain where in Messina or if it still operates. The bus from Catania AIrport also made a stop in close proximity to the cruise dock area. We noticed a few cruisers jumping on board. Check on the tripadvisor forum.

 

One benefit of the bus is that it runs frequently and it drops you off at the parking lot next to the town entry. No need to get a cab up from the train station.
