Coolgran Posted May 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Do such things exist on Queen Elizabeth and if so at what price? Also what is in the fridge when you board, |I have heard that bottled water is very expensive. I am not too bothered but we are travelling with first timers on Cunard and they have had these things on other lines. It is ten years since we last cruised Cunard but I can't remember such items being available. :hot-beverage:
luckymal Posted May 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2017 The amount Cunard charge for bottled water is STUPID, I would suggest each time you go ashore, bring some back on ship with you. You can keep it in your fridge.
pollardtom Posted May 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Coffee cards are available, each one is for 10 coffees and it is 10 percent cheaper. Drinks packages for soft drinks or wine. The wine ones are basically bulk buying 4, 8 or 12 bottles (i think).

Is the coffee card similar to Princess in that you use the punches for specialty coffee but you get unlimited tea, coffee, and hot chocolate at the barista area? Vera123 Posted May 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2017 We've just returned from the QE. There is a large bottle of water in the room and a note stating that you can order 5 more bottles for $19.95. We weren't sure if the first bottle was free or not so didn't drink it lol. The coffee card was $35. I didn't know this was for a specific number but if I remember the coffee at the bars was around $3.50 a cup. Definitely worththe card for speciality coffees. The coffee in the Lido is horrible in my opinion. There are different teas inc Earl Grey and juice, cold water etc. No hot chocolate. Don't know about the wine package. You can take drinks on board for use in the stateroom, we took Sherry. Next time I would also take water and juice. Although it is available in the Lido, its difficult carrying back to the cabin when the lifts are full !!Cunard seem very tolerant of taking drinks on board for your own use in the cabin. The fridge has a small amount of alcohol, beer and soft drinks to purchase. There is room to store some of your own drinks. The steward also offers to bring ice. Captiveguru Posted May 13, 2017 #11 Share Posted May 13, 2017 "The Queen Mary 2 ship uses more than 1,000 tons of fresh water every day (~1 million litres). Even a ship her size is not big enough to store that much water. So she makes it herself. Sea water is drown in the ship in the middle of the hull. It’s pumped into three low pressure flash evaporators where it’s boiled by waste heat in the engines. The steam condenses into distilled water that is pumped into storage tanks." http://www.queenmarycruises.net/rms-queen-mary-2-ship/

Vera123 Posted May 13, 2017 #13 Share Posted May 13, 2017 Why buy water? All of the water from the taps is distilled... We will bring our own because we like sparkling water, we like water in a bottle- its easier to carry, safer by the bed than a glass that can be knocked over, easier to chill in the fridge, portable, and before you say you can refill an old bottle, this carries horrible germs round the lid that will multiply each time you re-use it. So yes we buy our water and happy to continue doing so, thanks for asking :)
