Live from Anthem

Recommended Posts

Thank you. What did they serve for dinner tonight? We are doing the BOGO dinner package for the first two nights and were wondering if we are going to miss anything good in the dining room for formal night. Also, jus curious of how casual people were dressed.

Last night we had beef tenderloin tips, salmon, vegetable pot pie, pork shank, lobster bisque, arancini, and caeser salad. For dessert we had grand Mariner soufflé, cheesecake with berry compote, and chocolate cake.

That's all I really remember because that's what we ordered. I don't think you'll miss anything too great.

I personally feel like the quality of the MTD in service and quality of food has gone done since they now have so many specialty dining options. I remember being blown away on my first RC cruise by the food. Now it's just kind of eh.

Service was a bit slow. We never get offered another glass of wine and we would have definitely had another. I ordered a coffee and never received it.

I haven't really seen anyone too casual for dinner. I'll keep an eye out.

Hi. I'm considering this cruise for next April. How has the movement (rocking, etc..) been on Anthem?

It's not too bad. Thursday and yesterday you could definitely feel rocking but I don't see it affecting many people. Smooth sailing last night and and now that we left Bermuda.

Having done Anthem and Oasis, I would say Oasis handles the crowds a bit better. It's not a big issue but we were definitely more surprised by where everyone was on Oasis.

Haven't done Oasis but definitely can say they could do a better job with dispersing the crowds. With so much room, they could spread a few things out better.

A few other random notes:

-Last night we tried to go to adult comedy but the late night party kids camp was non-existent. So therefore we never made it.

-Not a lot of pool side bar service but a lot of stations/bars to get it yourself.

-Havent figured out yet why they don't have 2 places for ice cream since there is always a line.

-Solarium pool closed early last night which seems weird that is closes so early. We were looking forward to finally trying it out.

-Elevator waits aren't too bad anymore.

Tonight is Coastal Kitchen and The Gift.

Movies tonight:

7pm- A Monster Calls

10pm- Arrival

Last fall when we were on the Serenade, they had a form you could fill out and hang on the door for the bar staff (your cabin steward let them know it was there) and they would bring you up to 24 cans of soda (Diet Coke) do you know if they do this on the Anthem?

Thanks

Haven't seen this but I can ask!

Tomorrow's movies (day 4):

7pm: Storks

10pm: Lion

Coastal Kitchen was great. Wait staff was awesome, food was delicious, and filled up wine glasses continuously throughout the meal.

Definitely saw more casual attire tonight. Have seen shorts but nothing inappropriate. Just what you would wear out to dinner at home ex. nice shorts, nice shirt.

My daughter is obsessed with the robotic bar so we seem to stop by there often. Highly suggest choosing the option of making your own drink that way you can change the ratios of things. Otherwise they are way too sweet.

Pizza open till 3am has been awesome. I probably shouldn't love it being so accessible but I do.

Came off Anthem yesterday and tomorrow's weather in Bermuda should be very similar to our day on Monday, many people were in the water at Horseshoe Bay.

How was the 5 night Bermuda cruise? I set sail in July. Do you mind sharing your Cruise Compass?

We had 12 wonderful nights on Anthem, for us, 5 nights go so fast. I posted some pictures and videos (which came out sideways) :( of the Tribute bands "Wanted, DSB and our friend Andy singing in the casino on Anthem of the Seas FB page.

I have all the Compasses for the 5 days. Here's Day 1, hoping you'll be able to see them well.

Tomorrow's movies:

7pm: La La Land

10pm: Fences

Chops was amazing. One of the best meals I've ever had probably.

Today was a sea day and have to admit, I don't think the pool set up for such a large ship is ideal. Yes, there are tons of chairs but NOT nearly enough for around the pool. Did see a few attendants move stuff off chairs but also saw a group of 8 save chairs on both sides of the pool so they could have 'sun' spots and 'shade' spots.

This becomes extremely frustrating when all you want is one chair so you can watch your kid swim in the pool. We got to the pool around 9:45 and there wasn't a seat to be had. Don't get me wrong, I don't care who sits near the pool but when there are 16 chairs reserved for people who are barely there and not a single one of them are in the pool, it's aggravating.

We did get chairs upstairs but again, it's difficult when you have a 6 yr old that wants to swim with the kids they met at kids camp.

Also, because parents were upset they couldn't bring their NOT potty trained child in the pool, they took them in anyway and their kid pooped. So we all got removed from the pool around 2:30-3, on a sea day and the pool remained closed for the rest of the day. Inexcusable.

To me, it works just like dining always had previously. You have your table at MTD or you choose specialty restaurant. We have My Time dining and our specific dining room is listed on our sea pass card.

Thanks for the great information. Did you use the Royal IQ app? If so, were you able to book the NorthStar and Rip Tide? Great news about the water. I'm going to try it. Sailing on June the 8th

This is another example of people bullying staff to get their own way. People need to follow rules and realize they are put in place for a reason. so they had ruin it for everyone else. Ridiculous.

We were able to prebook everything before boarding however, after downloading the royal IQ app we realized there were so many time slots available for EVERYTHING. Therefore we were able to rearrange some reservations to different times/days that worked better for us.

I can't say I use the app for the compass so much but LOVE it for the capability of making reservations, keeping track of all of our scheduled activities, and being able to check out your onboard statement.

Since this is the first cruise where we made entertainment, dining, and activity reservations BEFORE boarding, the app is super helpful in reminding us what we have planned. Never would have remembered all that before we got on.

There were people next to us today who were talking about North Star and how they weren't able to get reservations before boarding or even when they called when they got onboard. I told them to download the app because there were tons of slots available. Not sure what the reasoning is with that but in any case, the app is free, super easy, and allows you to make reservations that some seem unable to make.
