Loved the vista

Just off vista. We had a lido balcony. Very convenient. Rooms were cleaned twice a day without asking (but were told number of rooms will increase for each crew). Dinner in mdr was good. Wife's prime rib was dry but mine was great a few days later. Waiter knew our names and greeted us when he was also working on lido. Cussy at red frog on lido was fantastic in getting me drinks even though i basically got diet cokes. Cash tips are always appreciated by servers. Vista theater is a disaster. No visibility. Loose seats a fire hazard especially when piled up along back aisles. We we were literally 3 rows back and could not see feet of dancers. Crazy. We just stopped going to shows. Mitch is a great cd. The kindness he showed to some members of our group was very moving. I liked the atrium but missed glass elevators. Excursions wete good. Party bus in aruba beats the pants off irie tour the next day. Excursion to catalina island was good. We had lits of rain and had to go through swift water that scared everyone. No personnel to help. Carnival needs safety plans for excursion vendors. Food on island ridiculous $20 for hot dog. Get a sandwich from ship to bring like peanut butter jelly. I hate new picture system. If you are in group photos you may not have access. We missed a lot but i saved lots by not buying pictures. Ready to board plane home. Lots of great memories. Hope your cruise is as fun as ours.

My last trip 135 singed up and 1 of us showed .. I did enjoy my time with the staff that day.

Peoples biggest excuse was they did not know cause it was in the fun times and they did not get a invite

Why doesn't Carnival set a date prior to the cruise like Norwegian does?

geckoaz, glad you enjoyed the Vista. We were on her about a month ago. There are some elements of the ship I liked, and some I did not. I like the layout and décor of the buffet area. Very reminiscent of the Breeze. I didn't like the procedure for Your Time Dining. You have to go to a desk on Deck 5 to check in, then go down to Deck 3 to the MDR to be seated. I too did not like the design of the theater. There are other things I could comment on, both good and not so good. I'm glad we got to experience the Vista, but we won't be going back anytime soon. Our next cruise will probably be on one of the Conquest class ships (our favorite class), or one of the Spirit class.

Someone asked about imax and lido room. We were in balcony 10274. In inner cabins across from us are above imax. No one from our group complained. Most nites the movies were over by midnite. I did not like muster drill in casino. Smell and lack if seating.

The only think you are allowed to bring off the ship onto the islands is prepackaged food. No PB&Js allowed. Boxed cereal is okay.

Technically yes. I dont bring veggies or fruit. But no one looks. Security at ports very lax. I had water bottles in backpage when i returned onboard. No problem. No one looked at anything but carnival id. And i saw the 20 dollar hamburger meat outside and not always covered. No fda to check it. I saved 20 dollars..fed my daily carbs to my disbetes and had fun until flash flood nearly swept us away

In Cozumel the Cozumel security WILL take fruit and veges. They have dogs there...my friend had an apple and poof it was taken.

Good to hear..invasive species can ruin a lot...

We will make a sandwich or 2 put it in a ziploc and put in beach bag many times, no worries, never saw anything ever checked on a walk off in 28 cruises

There is no "technically" about it. Taking non-prepackaged foods onto an island is violating the law for those islands. Whether someone "looks" or not is immaterial. We are adults and should not have to be monitored like children to ensure we do the right thing.

The FDA does not have jurisdiction outside of the US.

That's not the first or last thing Cruise Critic will be wrong about. But if you decide to do this and get caught, your defense that Cruise Critic said it is okay to do so will be laughable at best.

Since Cruise Critic doesn't own or operate a cruise ship, I suggest you follow the rules of the cruise line and the laws of the country you are visiting.
