Sarah Taylor Posted November 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2005 :) Hi Everyone :) I have to say that my beach of choice is Accra and will probably be Accra for a very long time. Well I guess for as long as the beach remains as beautiful as it is and the sea keeps its vibrant blues aquas and turquoise. Even as a Barbadian I have received hassles on the beach. I think people should get fined who do it. I have found that at Accra beach on the above end just in front of Sugar Reef Restaurant. It is not only a perfect spot offering you a fantastic view of the beach and ocean but you have two extra points that make this spot perfect actually 4 1 The hustlers or bums stay down on the other end of the beach. I have NEVER been hassled in front of the restaurant 2 The restaurant itself has a beach bar I personally like drinks with little umbrellas so it is perfect for me LOL they also have showers that you can wash off the sea water and sand. The food is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plentifully and the price is very good. Put it this way I spend about BDS$18.00 for a a chicken sandwich fries and a drink at Cheffet our local fast food place at Sugar Reef I pay BDS$18.00 for a GREAT GREAT Best ever chicken sandwich fries and salad so like US$9.00. when you consider Sugar Reef is a Restaurant so it is Table Service and better quality it is really fairly awesome. http://www.sugarreefbistro.com/ 3 The sea right in front of Sugar Reef usually has a calmer area than further down the beach. The whole beach is great and it is not relay rough but there are waves at times and right in front the restaurant there are usually smaller 4 There is a great reef a short swim out just in front of the Restaurant where you can do a bit of snorkeling. You can also rent chairs and umbrellas. Chairs are BDS$5.00 umbreallas are between BDS$5-10.00 Who knows I might see some of you there LOL as I said it is my favorite beach so I try to sneak a way for a quick tanning session when I can
CathyG Posted November 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2005 Sarah, The beach looks beautiful and I'd love to be on it now as we had our first snow this morning. My question tho is, we have a tour (Natural Wonders) schedule with you on February 4th. Do you think we should maybe cancel and just go to the beach instead? (Only kidding, maybe next time we'll do the beach) Cathy
SqueakyDust Posted November 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2005 oh My! that looks wonderful! We like Carlisle Bay, but that was coz it was VERY quiet and no hassles (albeit years ago). Accra Beach - is that South?
Sarah Taylor Posted November 24, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted November 24, 2005 Hi SqueakyDust It is South you leave the Port and past Carlisle Bay and keep going for a little while. It is next to Accra Hotel so it easy to find some people call it Rockley. The guys on the beach can get quite bad  but thankfully my little peace of heaven is very peace full. On Sundays the restaurant has live steel Pan and the music just flow onto the beach it is just lovely.

Sunniebgi Posted November 27, 2005 #9 Share Posted November 27, 2005 from the port Accra Beach and Sugar Reef are only about a 15-20 min ride (of course it depends on the time of day and traffic conditions). You go through the middle of Bridgetown then along the south coast road. It's my favorite beach as well. Not eaten at Sugar Reef but no the owners (who are in the catering business as well) and enjoy their food. If you only want a beach setting with a bar for drinks and snacks, still try Accra but there is an area with public restrooms and food/bar areas. Try De Rock Bar and tell Pat, Sunnie Sent you. have fun

Tommy D Posted December 29, 2005 #16 Share Posted December 29, 2005 I was in Barbados about 4 years ago on a cruise. To get to the beach we went to we walked through a downtown-like area and then crossed a bridge where a street vendor was selling water color paintings (we bought three). At the beach we went through a restaurant where we got a chair and a token for a drink for $10. There was a big trampoline or raft in the water. The beach was quite crowded but a lot of fun. I can't remember where it was or if we took a cab part way then walked. Can anyone help - Sarah??
