Same Cruise Ship Twice?

We sailed on the Freedom three times. All three to the Panama Canal. Still my favorite cruises.

We sailed on the Dream Four Times. I am still chapped that Carnival moved it from Port Canaveral.

We have sailed on the Sunshine twice. I have two cruises booked for Sunshine cruises in 2018. I book early. I USED to get much better prices the further Out I booked, but now.........rates seem to start high and stay high. I digress.

I like the Sunshine much better now that I know my way around. I know to go to Havana part of Lido Restaurant. Small crowd. Fresh omelets made. I enjoyed both the Asian for pay ( $15 pp) restaurant and the Italian one ( $15pp). I know exactly what kind of cabin I want.....one on Deck 3 or Deck Five. I have a 4J , deck 3 cabin, for one Sunshine sailing ( HOO RAY) and an Inside on Deck 3. We have had 4J cabin's for both cruises and LOVE those cabins.

We know a taste bar is set up on Deck Five. Where Trivia games are ( were) played. We like Trivia. That Taste bar had Breakfast. eggs. bacon. toast. pancakes.Grits. Juices. Coffee. Sweet pastries. Perhaps 10 people dining. Staff...great. Love that place.

Shows were good.

( We have not sailed Carnival since 2015. We have been on Princess. HAL. RCI. But always return to Carnival. I like it best of all cruise lines. And we live in Florida. retired. Husband is a vet. Senior Citizens. Husband does donate to casino. So we can afford to cruise a bit, what with not having airline tickets to buy or motels to book. Port Canaveral is a 3 hour drive from our house. Tampa is 3 1/2 Jacksonville is local. SO SNOWBIRDS.......think about retiring to Florida. Or even S. Georgia. Coastal Georgia. And Florida LOVES it's tourists. Snowbirds. Retirees. I digress. I was a teacher. Love that tax money. Love the mix of Florida. Americans from all over live here.

I SAY......Liberty is a GREAT SHIP. I would chose that.

My fiancé and I are going on a short cruise for part one of our honeymoon. We booked the Liberty to Nassau and Princess Cays. We've already been on the Liberty, and it is one of the best cruises we've been on (itinerary is a large part of why).

However, I'm not sure if it will be the same the second time around. I'm also considering Inspiration out of Long Beach, CA. I've never been in a Fantasy class ship nor have I done a west coast cruise.

What do you guys think I should do?

My wife and I have done several ships twice ( Holiday back in 07 then 08 which was our 1st cruise and has since been sold) then we've done the Valor and the Dream twice, the Dream's my wife's favorite ship, she liked it as much, if not more than the Oasis. Me, I just love CRUISING, as long as I can. ANY cruise is better than NO cruise. But, I do love the ship. They have a beauty, a majesty, all of their own and I love walking them, seeing one silently pass by. Feeling goosebumps as I hear that 'underway' horn sound and feel the deck as she begins to move out of port on embarkation day. No wonder they're described as 'She' for they do have a well deserved regal beauty. Sorry, hope I don't sound corny. I just hope I never take so many cruises, that this thrill escapes me. I never want to tire of it.

We only cruise once a year, so my current goal is to never repeat a ship. Once we retire and are able to cruise more frequently, I am sure that goal will fly out the window.

We did that too. Now I wish we had stayed on Carnival. One....the more you sail the same ships, the more you read Cruise Critic , the more you know the secrets of the ship. Good cabins. Great dishes. know WHAT NOT to book.

We have 17 cruises on Carnival. Another one paid for and two with depoists.

That will give us 20 cruises.

IF I had stayed with Carnival......We would have 15 cruises we sailed on HAL. NEC. RCI. Celebrity. Princess. We would have 35 cruises with Carnival, closing in on Fifthy cruises Getting the perks. Half off the cruise on Fifty mark. could be taking transatlantic. Hawaii. And I like the perks for Platinum. The ones for Diamond.......think I Would like that more.

Make a plan.

And I enjoyed every cruise I sailed. Considered myself lucky to be able to do it. I have been places I did not know existed. Like Bonaire.

But Carnival. Always the best. Know that might not be a popular choice but.......it is the cleanest line. People are the nicest. Not afraid to have a good time on cruise. And I don't drink and am in bed by ten, but I like the exuberance.

I like the food on carnival better.

like the music better.

DO NOT LIKE the CASINO better. I never win and I never get an offer. I Took my daughter and her family on one Carnival Cruise. I was happy to pay for it. But SHE gets Carnival Offers every two or three months. Her idea of a good vacation is in a Pup Tent in a Natural campground, climbing hills all day.

Alas. I digress. And Whine. But that is Why we wound up sailing on so many other lines. We did get offers from them.

Good Luck. You sound like a nice couple. USUAL Carnival people.

I think you sound great. I love setting foot on foreign soil. ( and getting back on good old USA Ship). I thought Aruba was in the Middle East. I am ashamed to admit it. I have a college degree. But the Caribbean was ........"over there. By Florida which then was 'over there'. I am North Alabama ( hill country) native. I kept wondering why Brides took their Honeymoons in the Middle East by flying to Aruba which must be an Oil producing nation like Kuwait.

Stupid. Provincial me. I know now it is a paradise for arthritis sufferers. The climate is dry and hot and the winds blows all the time, so it is cool. Other than them eating Iguanas..........It is Paradise, I think. Bonaire...like it best.

Cruising gave me a view of the world.

And sitting.....watching the ocean go on and on and you see why Native Americans thought the earth was a giant Turtle. With the Shell being the sky. the sky does curve at sea. Coming into Port at St. Thomas.......the mist on those three little hills............Stunning. Just stunning.

If I like a ship will certainly come sail her again. Have been on Caribbean Princess 3x (#4 coming up) Grand Princess 3x, Dream 3x (#4&5 coming up). I can easily drive to New Orleans so am becoming a frequent cruiser on Dream.

If I like the ship and have sailed on her before, you step onboard and it feels like you're home!

We're getting ready to sail on Pride for our 4th time (this will be the second time in 8 months). We live very close to her embarkation port of Baltimore, so that ship is very convenient for us, but we really like sailing on her. Great size and with the 2.0 upgrades she's lots of fun. We'll do another ship soon, but we do love cruising on our "home" ship.

We like sailing on the same ship. No two trips are ever the same. But when you get on one you have been on before (or the sister ship), you feel "at home" almost instantly. I personally like that.

We did the Sunshine last year January and May -same cabin both times.

We too enjoyed being on a ship we knew and liked.

For a honeymoon I'd opt for the east coast cruise for a less stressful time - and save California for another time weaving in some sightseeing before and/or after your cruise.

That's just my opinion ,,, whatever you do have a great honeymoon!!:bottle-pop::champagne-toast:

Been on Glory 8 times so far.

I forgot the Glory. Our first Carnival cruise was on the Glory.

I think we sailed her three times and then they MOVED the Glory from P.C.

Our entire sailing history on Carnival has been the same ships over and over.

And we Like Carnival Best.

We are sailing on the Magic, From Port Canaveral, this August. End of August. I understand it is a Dream type ship with some upgrades.

I suspect I will LOVE the Magic. And then Carnival will move her. They keep breaking my heart on the ships I love..........

And being newly weds............on Sunshine.........Italian and Asian restaurants provide more intimate dining at not such a big $$$$$$$$$$ Pop. $15pp. We dined at both. They are on the Lido Deck, but seating is for party. Space between tables. Good food. Great staff.

Hope you have a great wedding and Honeymoon.

To me.......to be a Newly Wed...........I would love to have gone to the ABC islands. Bonaire. Aruba. Curacao. Prosperous. Out of Hurricane path. Warm. 30 miles from Venezuela. Very green. Water crystal clear. Bonaire one of diving top spots in world. Have a bit of a coral reef there. NOT even a Traffic light in Bonaire. Round abouts. Prosperous Do not think a dirty toilet exists in the ABC Islands.

Diva diva trees, great nightlight in Aruba. Beaches are awesome.

Good wishes

Amber,

Be prepared for a heartache  CCL usually repositions their ships (usually every six months) but not too fail, they'll have another at Port Carnival, just waiting for you. :) We (my wife and I) just did the Magic this past March 18-25 the week of our 22nd anniversary and.our 1st cruise on her and LOVED her. Out of 16 cruises, we've done 13 on CCL and 3 on RCL. Our very FIRST cruise was a five day out of Mobile in March of 2007 to Freeport/Nassau on the Carnival Holiday and we've never looked back. HAPPY crusin' no matter which ship you're on OR where it's bound !

We cruised the Miracle 6 times. I loved the ship but more so it being out of NYC.

The itinerary differed a bit, Grand Turk being a must.

We never minded sailing the same ship.

Have a great time.

We have sailed on the Victory twice. First was a 7 day, the second a 5 day a few years later. Each cruise was different.

We sailed on the Conquest twice. First was a 7 day, the second an 8 day. Again, each cruise was different. The Conquest had gone through upgrades so the ship was even a little different.

Even the fellow passengers can make the same ship experience different each time you cruise on a given ship.
