wee-haggis Posted June 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2017 Have Supershuttle booked but will not use them due to bad reviews and inconsistency. Do Yellow Cabs go to Newark Liberty airport ? Are the sitting ,lined up across the street from the terminal ? Any idea of approximate cost ?
lbkladybug Posted June 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2017 Usually there are several taxis right outside the port. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare mking8288 Posted June 4, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2017 Yellow/metered NYC licensed taxi area available and by regulations/laws - they are permitted to charge round-trip fares to EWR airport plus tolls (another $20 to $25 on top) & applicable surcharges ... keep in mind not all drivers are familiar nor wanted to do the trip. You will get an computerized receipt with itemization - expect the total to be well in excess of $100+ plus tipping (20%) Depending on your disembarkation time - there might be a line at the taxi stand, wait is usually short - a matter of limited curbside space for taxi to pull up, load & leave from the taxi stand ... a dispatcher is usually on duty to assist and organize the trips, on ship days. We recommend using Dial 7 or Carmel, car services with large fleet of vehicles & drivers - last month, when we returned from our NCL Gem cruise @ MCT, just use the mobile App to book a car on the spot, as we exited the CBP restricted area inside the terminal, prior to walking out toward the exit/12th Avenue - itself, a 5 minutes walk with luggage (and, using porter services) - book it for pick-up in 10 minutes, across the street off 12th Avenue. Timing was perfect, DW took a quick restroom stop & we walked across at the traffic light & were on our way in the car service. Base fares, tolls & tips will run about $85 to $90 out to EWR - much less than a yellow taxi. (Cruiseline - NCL charged $40 p/p for airport transfer to LGA or JFK only & the bus do not leave until it is full and/or everyone booked boarded the motorcoach ... did not see them offering transfer to EWR at all) Wise/smart decision to not use SuperShuttle, remember to cancel the reservations to avoid getting charged for no-shows & get the cancellation # for record ... their operations in NY area is small & being on the road a lot around JFK and LGA area, I hardly see, if any, their big blue vans going or coming. Rare Noxequifans Posted June 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2017 The suggestion to use car service (Carmel or Dial 7) is a good one.
