zebra Posted June 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Can you tell me if the pools on the ship are warm enough to swim in - also the beaches, what is the water temperature at that time of the year? We'll be going to Tortola and would love to be able to snorkel. argosy Posted June 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Went E. Caribbean at the END of January once, first of February another time...and it was more than warm enough at all the ports except Nassau. Still, Nassau was not unbearable. It just wasn't as comfy as the other places. It's a little further north. You should be fine in Tortola. *a-hem* I just swam on the pool of the Coral, while we were in Glacier Bay...so maybe I am not the person to ask. ssbeagle Posted June 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2004 That is one of the best times of year to go. The weather was beautiful and warm but not stifling hot as it gets towards the summer. Ship Dude Posted June 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Did the E. Carib. just this past Jan. Beach water temp of St. Marteen and St. Thomas were very warm, air temp was in lower 80's. The water temp was cold at Princess Cays, not too many people in the water that day, but air temp was great for laying out. "its been a lovely cruise" J.B. beachlovergirl Posted June 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2004 We were in Princess Cays in the beginning of December and the water was cold, definitely too cold for swimming that day, but it was a great day for sunbathing. The water in St. Thomas and St. Marten was nice and warm. zebra Posted June 10, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Thank you for all your replies - just what we needed to hear. I guess we can still have fun at Princess Cays without having to swim? Did you find the pool on the ship warm enough to swim? OCruisers Posted June 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 10, 2004 We almost always cruise in JANUARY and don't like chilly water! Never had a problem in the Eastern Caribbean. The Bahamas are normally too cold ... going to be about the same temperature as Miami so sometimes the weather there in January is lots better than others. Happy Sailing!
