Unassigned Cabin/Dinner Times

I forgot to ask - we literally got the last cabin on our ship but have not been assigned a dining time, though we requested 6 p.m. dining. It shows everything is full - 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and anytime dining - how is that possible when we have paid or a cabin? My question is - does this normally get assigned before we board, or do we need to go to the Maitre D' once we are on board?
