Amazing Cozumel Race + Beach Time?

First time cruiser, here. . . .

We will be doing the Amazing Cozumel Race from 10 AM-4 PM, but our ship does not depart until 6 PM. Does this allow for beach time? If so, can someone recommend a nice (probably nearby) beach and the best way to get there? FYI, the race is through San Miguel and, based on a review I read, at the end of the race a taxi is provided to take participants back to the cruise terminal.

Also, if we do go to a beach, by what time should we be back at the cruise terminal?

You must be on board at least 30 minutes prior to departure.

Coz has no "terminal" per se.

We did the amazing race 3 yrs ago and it was a blast...it took our family 2.5 hrs to complete the entire game and all the clues and make it back to the restaurant. We were very hot and tired so had drinks and food at the last stop restaurant then back to the ship, I dont think we would have had time for a beach break. But we do not like to make it too close to ship leaving so went straight back but still doesn't seem like there would have been a lot of time.

Just make sure you research to make sure it is a beach that is very close to where ship docks or ferry tender, just google it or go to the port of call section for Coz and look up beaches.

Yes you should have plenty of time to go to a beach. We were on the Dream in January and did the Amazing Race in Cozumel. It was tons of fun. After the race they taxi you back to the Puerta Maya pier. The taxi dropped us off by about 2:00 PM. Then we took a cab to Paradise Beach. We only spent about an hour at the beach. By 3:00 PM most people were leaving and the employees were starting to close down. We did a little shopping at the pier and were back on the ship around 4:00 PM.

We did the race back in February and had time for a couple hours at the beach after. We just hopped in a taxi at the restaurant and I think we went to Paradise Beach. We just set up with the taxi driver to come pick us back up to get us back to the pier.

The race was fun but a LOT of running! After the awards, the beach we go to is Sunset beach bar. It is between downtown and the port area. The beach (sand) is not great (but no beaches on Cozumel are spectacular due to coral reefs) but sunset beach is where the ship excursions go for shore snorkeling and diving... there is a man made reef system/diving tour right from shore... they have good food and reasonable drinks, free wifi and nice staff. It is free to use tables, loungers etc, they just ask you purchase drinks or something (although they do not enforce). It is our go to hang out spot... Also... in a pinch, you can walk to the port in about 10 minutes (which gives me an added feeling of security) although it is on main road so taxis are plentiful.
