TinkBellaMom Posted July 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2017 This may be a little "out there", but is it possible to store luggage somewhere before a cruise? We will be arriving in Rome, but then heading straight to Florence by train for a 5 day stay. Then we will be heading back to Rome for 3 days before leaving on a 9 day cruise. Because of the amount of luggage we would like to travel light to Florence. Thank you for any guidance.

Twickenham Posted July 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Our first trip to Italy - a week of touring followed by a 10-night cruise - we planned on doing something similar: store our cruise luggage at Termini (the main train station in Rome) while we toured, then retreave it for our pre-cruise stay in Rome and the cruise. What we discovered was that you can store bags at Termini for a maximum of 5 days - and I really got the impression if our luggage hadn't been claimed after 5 days and 1 minute it would be taken out and shot ;p. As we planned to be touring for 6 days, this put a kink in our plans - solution ended up being changing our train tickets to pass through Florence (where we were staying prior to Rome) and leave our bags there. If your Florence plans allow you to get back to Termini within the 5-day period, you should be good to leave your bags there. Of course, we've greatly reduced our packing since then, and am now down to a medium-sized backpack for any trip (including my month-long sojourn in London last year). TinkBellaMom Posted July 3, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Thank you! Both great info! My husband would say pack less, but we do like to dress for dinner on the ship, so I always take his suit, which takes space. I really need to rethink my packing style. mapleleaves Posted July 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2017 I assume you're spending your first night in a Rome hotel before departing on the train. Hopefully the same hotel as after Florence. Tip the Desk staff well to hold onto your luggage for you.
