I wasn't on a cruise, but beeing also a cruise port I thought it might be interesting to know for some of you.

I spent last week two nights there and I there would have been two big things to do, which I liked to see (had I know about it in advance) but had no time and as well you need to book them in advance:

In Saint-Nazaire there is a big wharf where they are currently building an Oasis-Class Royal Caribbean Cruiser

and one can visit the wharf with a guided tour.

Also for plane-spotters, there is a Airbus-Factory which can be visited as well.

I thought there were also the German sub marine pens for anybody interested in WWII history?

We visited the museum and pens in Lorient last September. The guide was supplied by the museum. Interesting and an amazing engineering feat.

Yes, of course there are the Sub marine pens as well, and in a smaller pen there is even a (French?) Sub marine to visit. In the bigger you can climb for free on the roof for a nice view over the Harbour. And inside the pens there is the tourism Information Office, a small Café, a little souvenir shop and a museum about the time of the big transatlantic cruises as Saint-Nazaire was a port where the big ships left on their journey over the Atlantic.

There are two charming little seaside towns not far from Saint-Nazaire, Pornichet and its neighbor, La Baule-Escoublac. I spent one month in Pornichet, while on business in Saint-Nazaire many years ago.
