Snorkel or beach?

Hi there, we will be in Saint Thomas from 9 to 5 coming off of Adventure of the seas. We are deciding between snorkeling on a boat excursion or going to a beach and snorkeling offshore. If we pick the beach option, I think we have decided on Sapphire Beach. Any feedback or suggestions for snorkel trips via boat? Any feedback on going the beach route versus the boat route? Thanks so much!

For snorkeling and a nice beach we would also choose Sapphire. It may be hard to get a shared day sail with your later arrival. But New Horizon is a 65' sloop that sails out of the Sapphire Marina at 10 and returns at 4 so you'd be pushing it. If your next port was Tortola you could catch up the next day! But you could check with them to see if they can get back a little early if other day visitors are also booked by chance. Very reasonable rates and a nice day. We had just 8 - 10 ppl but they can take more. We moored off Honeymoon Beach on STJ, had a great Italian lunch, and then moored off Great St James before returning. You'd want to arrange the taxis through them. But it would be safer to go to the beach of course.
