South Beach La Flora Hotel

It's in a good location, but looks rather nasty on the outside. The Trip Advisor reviews are not very encouraging... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34439-d120424-Reviews-Comfort_Inn_Suites_South_Beach-Miami_Beach_Florida.html

You have to be very careful with South Beach hotels. Most are VERY old, and the cheap ones have not been modernized. IMO South Beach is not someplace you should do on the cheap.

That's one of the most difficult and most expensive weekends of the year! It's President's Day weekend AND the Miami Boat Show... All I can tell you is to check them all and good luck, but anything decent is going to be very pricey if it's not already sold out! Here are some in good locations that I know to be decent places, some obviously much nicer (and more expensive) than others...

I figured something was going on as I have called all the ones you mentioned. Some reviews are acceptable so we will tough it out still at 250.00 a night can't be that bad, sure have stayed in worse in Key West and New Orleans.

;)

Keep in mind, that weekend the Marriott Courtyard is getting $400 per night for a standard room. Take lysol!

LOL, yeah... Lysol, RAID, and everything else you can find... On THAT weekend $250/night CAN be THAT BAD! $250/night is a bargain basement, bottom of the barrel price for South Beach then! In all seriousness I'd cut back on something else and spend more on a better hotel if I wanted to stay in South Beach that weekend.

No, I'm afraid you've misunderstood our postings. The fact that it's a holiday and boat show weekend makes the hotels much more expensive (like it or not, they all DO raise their rates at times when rooms are most in demand, not just in Miami, but everywhere on the planet!), but the nice hotels will be just as nice and the dumps will still be dumps, they'll just all cost a lot more than normal.

Your comment that "at $250 a night can't be that bad" gave me at least, the impression that you thought that a hotel costing that much wouldn't be a dump, but in South Beach a hotel costing so little on that weekend is not going to be a very nice place. South Beach is an extremely expensive place to stay, and $250 per night on that weekend is very very cheap. On that particular weekend most decent South Beach hotels are gettting $400-800 per night. I don't want anyone thinking they're going to get a great place for so little on THAT weekend. Unless you have very very low standards I don't think you're going to be very happy with it. Many people who try to do South Beach on the cheap are shocked at what nasty places they get for what they think is a lot of money per night. I'm not being negative, just realistic.
