radiancecruiser Posted July 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2017 We have done 3 Sth Pacific cruises out of Sydney in the last 4 years, 2 on Rhapsody and 1 on Explorer. Early next year we have decided to spread our wings and do an Asian based cruise out of Singapore on Mariner.😂 Reading various threads, I have picked up that we can expect some differences.... Just wondering what some of the differences might be, and what to basically expect. Thank you.😊 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Forums mobile app
jasper15 Posted July 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2017 We did a cruise on Mariner out of Singapore a few years ago, here are some random memories: Firstly, we had a drinks package and had no trouble getting a drink anywhere on the ship. Once the bartenders knew our names, they were calling out to us when we walked passed practically begging us to come to their bar. There was a lot of pushing and shoving from the locals anytime you tried to get in an elevator.... If your cruise is going to Port Klang, I wouldn't recommend getting off the ship. The port is very dirty and a long way from the city. The food was really good, an abundance of seafood in the windjammer and plenty of nice Chinese food. Service from the staff was sensational. They would all want to chat with Westerners. I would definitely do another Asian cruise, but next time will try Japan or Hong Kong/Vietnam. Thailand/Malaysia wasn't for us but you don't know until you try :)
