Excited First Timers 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2017 We are so looking forward to our first ever cruise, chosen by the children! We're going on Thomson's TUI Discovery, highlights of the Med cruise. We've already booked the Pisa tour & Rome in a day because they are quite far away from the port and didn't want to chance missing the departure time! We're also stopping at Ajaccio, St Raphael & Barcelona. Ideally we were hoping to do some trips in these places by ourselves. Does anybody have any recommendations, prices & who to book with please. Any info would be greatly received as we really don't know what to expect. Thank you in advance:D
LondonTowner Posted July 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2017 Have a look on the Port's of Call forum. Barcelona very easy to get around on your own. If you want to visit Sagrada Familia book online as it gets busy. Sent from my iPad using Forums
louthebowler Posted July 27, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2017 Ajaccio also easy. Reasonable beach 5 minute walk from the port, which is always nice if you've had a couple of port days that have been tiring.

court1 Posted July 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2017 Wow are you in for a great time. We did this last year and it was amazing. Don't worry about the length of excursions as if they are booked through Thomson the ship will not leave until you are back, although the tour guides love to make jokes about people becoming Italian citizens due to not getting back in time. The ship docks literally 10mins from Las Rambles in Barcelona. Just hop on the shuttle from the ship. If you want to cram as much of Barca in as possible then get a ticket for the open top bus that takes you pretty much around the whole of the city. Please note though that it feels like there are about 20 people per sq mtr throughout the whole place. Ajjacio is a lovely place. We hopped on the little land train and went up to Napoleons monument then went to the beach. Rome stunning end of.
