Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 10, 2017 Author #101 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Tonight's port of call appetizer sounded interesting so I tried that as well. It was not that amazing. For the main entree part of the menu I started with the beef lasagna. This was very good and I would probably say one of the better dishes I had. DW had the Penne Mariscos. This had lots of different seafood in one dish. She didn't care for all the seafood but the salmon was amazing.
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 10, 2017 Author #102 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Next I had the chicken milanese. This was not good....it was very dry DW had the short rib which I had a bite...it was ok Tonight's dessert menu was as follows DW went with the pie which was apple tonight. It was ok but nothing amazing I had the cheesecake which was ok but nothing to write home about good thing I had my ice cream to satisfy me haha
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 10, 2017 Author #103 Share Posted August 10, 2017 After dinner we headed towards the Atrium to check our pictures taken from the previous night We did not find any that we were impressed with so we took our own pic haha We listened to some music for a bit and then were headed into tonight's show. DW got us a seat as I ran up to the room and then to lido to make a drink Tonight's show was Getaway Island. This turned out to be our favorite show of the entire cruise. At the end of the show they invited everyone up on stage to dance.
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 10, 2017 Author #104 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Video of the dancing up on stage. yZ4wvNJrFfg The party didn't stop there as Malcom moved it to the Atrium Another video of dancing in the atrium 5yTFKl-elrY After that we made our way over to the comedy club to watch two different shows. The one show was strictly making fun of cruisers and it was funny. We finished the night off by enjoying some time in the casino and then it was off to bed as we had an excursion at 7:30 AM the next morning. Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 11, 2017 Author #108 Share Posted August 11, 2017 We made it to Freeport. This was not your gorgeous views from in port as the port area is very industrial. The one nice though was we had reached the nice blue water. Key West had nice water but not quite that blue you could see here. We docked at 7:00 and our excursion left at 7:30 so we decided to head up to the lido deck for some breakfast. I got myself some huevos ranchers, eggs benedict and some sausage. It all tasted very good. DW got herself an omelette, some cottage cheese and fruit.
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 11, 2017 Author #109 Share Posted August 11, 2017 We were going on the Open Bar Beach excursion today. We had finished our breakfast and decided to head down off the ship. Our excursion was set to leave at 7:30 but if you do this one go right away as they will start loading buses as soon as you get off. They gave us a wristband and we were headed to the line for the bus by about 7:15. There was one other ship with us in port that day....not sure what cruise line this is We sat in the top deck of the bus and by 7:20 we were headed to the beach. This seemed amazing as we were way ahead of schedule already. The bus tour was narrated and the woman we had was very informative. As I mentioned before in the immediate port area it was industrial. This section you could see where trees had been snapped from the Hurricane that hit them a year ago. There was many locations that were affected by the hurricane and never rebuilt. Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 11, 2017 Author #110 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Below is some pictures of sites along the way and yes they drive on the left side of the road. The unique thing was there is only 9 stoplights on the whole island. They have many of the roundabouts. This has saved the government so much money as they do not have to power them and there is fewer accidents along with traffic continually moving. I want to say we went through at least 5 on our trip The owner of Burger King and KFC lives here and you will those are the fast food restaurants on the island. The local grocery store. Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 11, 2017 Author #111 Share Posted August 11, 2017 They have a canal system as so many people use boats for fishing and what not so you can bring your boat right up to your house.
Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 11, 2017 Author #112 Share Posted August 11, 2017 We made it to the beach. We got off the bus and they called us over for a briefing....now we have been to some and that turns into a long speech and wastes your time. This one was amazing...they were like get whatever chair you want, someone will bring an umbrella to you and set it up. The big shelter houses the bar in which you can get your drinks or people will bring you drinks. You have an open bar drink us much as you want the only rule is you must be able to say your name when you leave. That was the briefing and we were off. We found a chair and within 30 seconds a kid came over with an umbrella dug a hole and got us all set up. Not even another 30 seconds and a waitress was there with a drink menu asking what she could get us. It was barely 8 AM and we were in the water with a drink in our hands. They had water trampolines and mats to play on. We did not partake in this. There was plenty of seating and everyone got umbrellas They did not bring you drinks out in the water but you could go up to the bar and they would let you take multiple drinks The weather did have a few showers during our excursion but nothing to ruin the fun. Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 11, 2017 Author #113 Share Posted August 11, 2017 There was two younger gentlemen who showed up on the beach with an iguana and a parrot in which you could take pictures with. During the one rain spurt we went up to the bar and got close to the parrot We enjoyed a very relaxing day of drinking, swimming, and doing nothing. I did do some snorkeling in which did not see much. Two of the workers saw a few of us snorkeling and came out to us and took us over to a place in which we did see a few fish. They were an amazing staff at this resort. They also had a play area for the kiddos. This is a video of our beach time that includes video footage and pictures. cs0vvhyVC6I
pspercy Posted August 11, 2017 #114 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Loving your review, especially the food photos. A little advice from me about tea. As an English woman, and from the north of England at that (Yorkshire), I was brought up drinking hot tea. My mother even used to put it in my baby bottle when I was an infant!! Let me tell you something, that green tea, when taken as a hot drink, is an abomination! No amount of sugar is going to mask the awful taste Agreed:) Grew up in the south of England, raised on Sainsbury's China and Darjeeling blend:')

Rare cruisewithwife Posted August 12, 2017 Author #117 Share Posted August 12, 2017 The beach excursion was great we were scheduled to be back by 12:30 and it was a 30 minute ride so we assumed they would call us at 12 they didn't call for us until 12:30 and got back about 1 which was nice so with leaving early and not leaving til the end of the time we got a good 4 and half hours at the beach. On the ride back we saw the KFC. They had a little mini golf area We made it back to the port area and checked out some of the shops.
