Entertainment on the Radiance of The Seas

We are leaving Friday August 11th for the Alaskan cruise on Radiance of the Seas. We've been planning this cruise for almost a year now and I am very disappointed Royal Caribbean has never posted what shows or entertainers will be featured on our cruise. We sailed The Harmony last November (LOVED it) and learned we had to book the shows way in advance to get in. I assume that is not the case with the Radiance or the shows were already booked by the time we made our reservation and that is why they don't display them on the web site. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

We were on the Radiance in May and I did not see anything offered to book reservations for the shows. They were just open seating. The shows were ok, but nothing elaborate and most were never near full capacity.

Alaskan cruises in general are more about the scenery and destination than the ship or entertainment. There is not as much late night activity as you find on Caribbean itineraries. In fact, there will probably be many more people up and about at 6:00 am than you will find after 11:00 pm.

That doesn't mean that there isn't anything to do after 10:00 pm, but you won't be fighting crowds to get to the piano bar or casino.

Thank you Jimbo and JT for your suggestions. I'm an early riser myself so maybe the non-broadway type shows will save me the temptation to stay up late. By sailing the Harmony on our first cruise we probably set expectations for future ships that are a little too high. And I agree that Alaska is THE focal point and the ship is just the means to see her. I'm really getting excited now..we leave Wednesday for Vancouver!

Thank you everybody for all the input! This site is just incredible and I wish I had found it much sooner!

We sailed on the Radiance 7/21 and weren't impressed with the big shows but really enjoyed the behind the scenes tour on the last day and the comedians.

The theater shows included - Welcome Aboard, Piano Man, 2 man comedy / juggling act, Jonathan Clark comedy and impressions, City of Dreams, and the Farewell Show.

Also, there were parties in the centrum in the evening that were fun - 50's & 60's, 70's and Rock On.

We did not have to book ahead for any shows and had no trouble finding seats.

WOW! Thank you so much Bermudafan!! That is far more variety than I expected. I really appreciate the specific show names and entertainers. We loved the Broadway-esque shows on our first cruise and despite the fact that Alaskan scenery is the real goal of the trip I was really looking forward to the shows as well. Thanks again for the great info!
