beckyvee89 Posted August 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2017 Hello all!! Cruising for the first time next month (well except for one cruise 10 years ago but it was my senior class trip and I was not involved with the planning at all). It'll be my mom, my sister, and myself. We're on the Breakaway out of NYC going to Bermuda. My mom has been to Bermuda a dozen times so that part of the planning is easy. However, I am so overwhelmed because I know nothing about cruises. What are some good resources I can check out? Any tips or tricks I should know? Any advice? Please help!! Ox Fan Cruiser Posted August 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2017 with the ship being so big its possible to lose your direction. If you do and are in the cabin areas. look down. The fish in the carpet always "swim" to the front of the ship.

callmebetty Posted August 6, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 6, 2017 (edited) I go by this...when packing, plan what outfits and shoes you think you will need, and then cut it in half! Bring extra conditioner, I find the salt air really dries my hair out. Edited August 6, 2017 by callmebetty Oopsie

garycarla Posted August 6, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 6, 2017 My suggestion(s) for a newbie: 1 - Read a bunch of reviews of the ship you are taking in the review section. 2 - Scan down through posts here from the past month. You will find the answers to questions you did not even know you had. Once you have done all that, then ask some specific questions here.
TenForward Posted August 6, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 6, 2017 Sorry to tell you, but there is deck 13, as we've stayed on that deck twice. https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/deckbydeck.php?ship=Norwegian-Breakaway&deck=13 Alas, there's no bar ;) (or free drinks) OP - You don't say when you're sailing but I'm on the Breakaway to Bermuda 9/17. You might want to find your roll call and see what's up there. You'll get acquainted with people on your sailing and may find many of your questions answered. Enjoy your cruise! Rare uneamie Posted August 7, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Hello all!! However, I am so overwhelmed because I know nothing about cruises. What are some good resources I can check out? Any tips or tricks I should know? Any advice? Please help!! Best thing you can do is hang out here for a few weeks and ask questions. We are sailing on Breakaway for the first time in Jan but we are experienced cruisers and only need to know about the ship. Look around at the topics and look for things you might need more information about. Keep in mind that the "Breakaway" is one heck of a big ship....double the passengers then most of the other ships..............so make your dining, show and perhaps excursion reservations NOW online before you board....you will get better time options for all of them if you book now.
