Anyone who has done this land/cruise tour can you give me idea's on places to eat in Anchorage, Denali, Talkeetna and Alyeska. Also any excursions you might have done on free time from the excursions already included. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you might have done a review of your trip please tell me the date and name so I can view it.

Thank you in advance!

Patty Kott: Have you checked the trip reports on the Alaska Cruise Critic forum? They are sorted by year at the top of the forum page.

In Alyeska, Seven Glaciers is the restaurant at the top of the tram, and generally is excellent. Also in Girdwood the Double Muskie is a funky Alaskan favorite.

One of the best restaurants in Alaska is actually located in the Denali area. 229 Parks is located at mile 229 on the George Parks Hwy. so is south of the "glitter gulch" area and park entrance road. For those who don't have independent transportation our governor recently signed legislation allowing Lyft and Uber to operate in the state, and our local Fairbanks newspaper did a story on someone offering Uber in the Denali area.

We have a lot of good local restaurants in Anchorage! Can you tell me what kind of food you would be interested, I can recommend then from there.

As Northern Aurora has said the Double Musky is fantastic, though, doesn't take reservations, so, if you don't want a long wait it's a good idea to go before they open, and, get in line.

I also like Chair Five in Girdwood, and, I've had some really good appetizers in the lounge at the Alyeska Resort too.

Been a few years since I've been in Denali, and, can't even remember the last time I was in Talkeetna, so, can't help you there!

Patty Kott: I forgot to ask if you know where you will be staying in Anchorage. In the past at least some of the Celebrity cruise tours have used the Anchorage Marriott on 7th Avenue. If so you will be in downtown Anchorage and within easy walking distance to a number of choices.

Thank you both for the great information. I will be staying at the downtown Marriott the first night then move on to Denali National Park village. For our third night Talkeetna Alaska Lodge and fourth night will be the Alyeska Hotel. Any recommendations on what is must see's and excursions to do?

Cheated and copied this from a thread I answered over in the Alaska Port of Call Board

These, I'd say they are all under a 1/2 of mile from the hotel to these. Regular sized city blocks (say that, because, one time we were in Vegas, and, someone said it was only like 4 blocks away, and, their blocks aren't the same as a regular city block that's for sure, and, these are all on the same level, not up or down a hill!

Simon & Seafort's has a great happy hour in their saloon (aka bar) http://www.simonandseaforts.com/menu.php...,, but, you'd have to eat before 6, though, you can get the regular menu or the bar menu at any time in the saloon. Humpy's http://www.humpysalaska.com/ and their sister restaurant Williwaw http://williwawsocial.com/menu-2/ McGinley's Irish Pub, this is basically across the corner from the Marriott http://mcginleyspub.com/, and Glacier Brewhouse https://glacierbrewhouse.com/and Fat Ptarmigan http://fatptarmigan.com/menu/

In regards to seating, we get very busy downtown during the summer season. Heck, I've made reservations at places, and, still have had to wait a bit to get our table. So, if you're interested in Glacier Brewhouse, I strongly recommend reservations (they use Open Table). Humpy's and McGlinley's don't take reservations, and, Williwaw only takes same day reservations. Simon& Seafort's takes reservations for the restaurant and not the saloon, but,if you go for Happy Hour, usually can get a table in the saloon (may not be right at the window though). Hope this helps. There is an Italian restaurant(sister company of Glacier Brewhouse) called Orso's, but, it runs on the pricier end http://orsoalaska.com/.../uploads/2015/02/DINNER-1.5.17.pdf Fat Ptarmigan takes reservations via phone, but, not sure how far out they take them.

In regards to tours, their is a Anchorage Trolley tour that leaves from over by the Anchorage Visitor Center's log cabin at 4 & F, the Anchorage Native Heritage Center has shuttles that run from downtown to it.

Alyeska - the tram at the resort is good. There are some easy walking trails around the resort.
