JulieEscapes Posted August 14, 2017 #26 Share Posted August 14, 2017 We are not buffet people, we don't like mass produced food but that is NOT the World Cafe on Viking - they put out smaller portions and replenish frequently. We noticed them replacing a half full tray - so the food is always fresh. We did look at both sides of the World Cafe, although the main section is the same on both sides: one side has the pizza section, one side the sushi section and one side the gelato - the gelato selections change daily, so good! Each night in the middle section there are "made to order" items - they make it fresh for you!
philw1776 Posted August 14, 2017 #27 Share Posted August 14, 2017 My only beef with the unexpectedly excellent World Cafe is that the plates can be quite cold, thus cooling down the otherwise hot selections too rapidly. Viking needs to find a way to have warmer plates for their buffet.
deec Posted August 14, 2017 #28 Share Posted August 14, 2017 That is SO funny because my criticism is the exact opposite. I hated the warm plates for my salad or cold seafood choices! I guess it depends on timing! Easier for me to cool down a plate than you to heat one!
jiminyC_fan Posted August 14, 2017 #29 Share Posted August 14, 2017 How funny. I never even noticed the plates either warm or cold. Probably it depends on the time you eat and the time it was taken out of the dishwasher. We always ate as soon as it opened.
vnb2003 Posted August 15, 2017 #30 Share Posted August 15, 2017 It is funny! Most of the time the plates for us were too hot! One time I almost dropped the plate. I agree that it's timing. In a perfect world the plates in cold food sections would be cold and in hot food sections warm ;)

lackcreativity Posted August 15, 2017 #32 Share Posted August 15, 2017 Such problems we have!!! :) I had to chuckle over your observation, as I almost posted "First world problem" to your earlier comment about the plates. However, I feared that you might take that as an actual criticism, when all I would have meant was how lucky we are to have these issues. I try to never forget how fortunate we are to travel, especially on such a beautiful ship.
