Diamond Princess - Anyone have feedback?

Hi Diamond Princess Cruisers,

2 questions re: Diamond Princess/Mexico. This will be my first cruise with my hubby since my one-and-only cruise experience when I was 17 years old.

 

1) How have your experiences been with the mini-suites infamous "open" balconies? Princess tells me there are no covered minisuite balconies, my TA tells me differently. Help!

 

2) How is the variety in the room service menus? Pretty limited, or lots to choose from?

If you order during meal times, whatever is on the menu can be ordered. As for breakfast put down what youwant. WARNING include everything ie creamer, sugar, butter, jam, toast, salt, pepper ect or you wont get it.

 

Your other question re balcony cover depends on your cabin #.

The room service menu off meal hours is a bit bland, there was a fabulous tuna sandwhich,trimmed crust, nice chunks of tuna. Very good chips too.

The only covered mini suites are those on the Emerald deck. All mini's on the Dolphin deck are "exposed"

Can a regular breakfast, (eggs, etc.) be ordered in cabins other than the full suites? If so, do we just write what we want on the back of card.
