Your TA has told HAL that you are celebrating either a birthday or an anniversary. On that celebration day, in the main dining room you will get a small cake and several of the staff will sing Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary.

I used to have a copy of the coupon booklet in my files, but I have deleted many of them. You need to spend big bucks to get a little something. We got a couple of those coupon booklets years ago and I asked our TA of she sent them -- Nope. Have no idea where they came from. Never used a coupon out of them.

We were pleasantly surprised with a small cake in the MDR for our Anniversary on the Zuiderdam.

 

My PCC had asked if we were celebrating anything long before the cruise date arrived, and I mentioned that it will be very close to our 30th wedding Anniversary. There was a nice note from the Captain in our stateroom on the second formal night wishing us a Happy Anniversary, and then the cake and song from the serving staff in the MDR. A lovely surprise!

DH has celebrated his birthday several times on cruises and we have also celebrated several anniversaries on cruises.

Never got anything from the captain for either occasion and a couple of times the wait staff kept mentioning about DH soon celebrating his birthday but when the actual day came -- no cake -- nothing.
