Malch_uk Posted August 19, 2017 #26 Share Posted August 19, 2017 One other point. If you are a light sleeper it may be advisable to take some earplugs. I have read on here that the single cabins on Celebration (and Spirit) can suffer from engine noise being low down in the aft section of the ship. Davecttr is the expert on single cabins. Malc. stephen@stoneyard.co.uk Posted August 19, 2017 Author #27 Share Posted August 19, 2017 Thank you. I was warned off this danger by a crew member from her Holland America Line days. I am a very sound sleeper but I will be prepared with earplugs. My noisiest cabin was on Voyager. A good cruise but not my favourite ship for many reasons. Best wishes, Stephen. Southendweather Posted September 3, 2017 #28 Share Posted September 3, 2017 After sailing 7 times with P&O I was wondering whether I need to take my tucks and bow tie. We are going to the Caribbean for new year on Discovery. Also luggage allowance is only 20Kg, not 23Kg so somethings going to have to go... Pensioncruiser Posted September 3, 2017 #29 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Always take mine but you don't have to, its 23Kg if you fly premium or just a few pounds for an extra 5Kg which you can split between your case's. Malch_uk Posted September 3, 2017 #30 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Keith, Might be worth starting a new thread for this as I believe the Discoveries do a "Dress to Impress" night rather than a "Formal" night and I'm not sure what this involves regarding Gentleman's Attire. We were on Discovery 2 in May and are going on her again next month. We had 2 'Dress To Impress' nights in May and there was a wide selection of clothes worn. My husband was far from alone in wearing his DJ whilst other men were much more casual. The ladies all tended to make a real effort with many in long dresses or shorter cocktail dresses.
